Disgusting!
http://www.dailyrecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070912/UPDATES01/70912001
Rutgers University President Richard L. McCormick sent a letter Tuesday to U.S. Naval Academy Vice Admiral Jeffrey L. Fowler, apologizing for the "disrespectful and disgraceful behavior exhibited by some of (Rutgers') fans" during the Rutgers-Navy football game Friday.
"No student-athlete should ever be subject to profane language directed at them from the crowd, and certainly not the young men of the Naval Academy who have made a commitment to serve our nation in a time of war," McCormick said in the letter. "Your Midshipmen conducted themselves with dignity throughout the game and have my admiration. You have my best wishes and, again, my apologies."
While boos were audibly heard from the capacity crowd of 43,514 at Rutgers Stadium as Navy entered the field, Rutgers officials also received reports of vulgarities shouted from the student section.
Rutgers Athletics Director Bob Mulcahy, in an open letter that is expected to be published in today's The Daily Targum, Rutgers' student-newspaper, chastised the "small group of students" who "hurled jeers and vulgarities" at the Navy football team.
In the letter, Mulcahy said it "embarrassed the university, the alumni, and Rutgers fans across our state."
"The behavior was undignified, disrespectful, and unacceptable," Mulcahy continued. "Some parents were so upset by the vulgar chants in the student section that they left the game with their children."
Reached by phone, Mulcahy said he apologized to Navy Athletics Director Chet Gladchuk on his cell phone Monday night and, because Gladchuk was in Florida and unreachable Tuesday, relayed a message to his secretary to state his position from the open letter.
"I was on the field before the game and heard the initial booing, which I don't approve of," Mulcahy said. "People are going to boo, that's in our society. But I actually don'twant to have to tolerate vulgarities, obscenities. There's no reason for it. As you know and I know, it's a problem across the country, not just here."
In a statement released by Navy's athletics department, Gladchuk said he's satisfied with Rutgers' response.
"There has been communication between the Rutgers president and our superintendent and between the two athletic directors and as far as we're concerned, the matter is closed and we are moving forward," Gladchuk said.
Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said following practice Tuesday that he was aware of the situation and was going to leave it up to the university's administration to handle it.
"I didn't hear it because obviously I have two head sets on and I'm trying to coach a game," Schiano said. "But certainly there are reputable people saying it took place. In any of those situations it's always a couple of people who cross the line and they make a bad name for everyone.
"We have the best fans in college football; I believe that. It's just a couple people probably crossed the line and it shouldn't happen to any opponent, and then you throw on top of it, you're talking about the people that are going to be defending the country. It's not something that should happen."
Asked to give a general feeling on booing college athletes, Schiano said, "I don't like it."
"I've coached in the NFL and they're getting paid a lot of money and people pay a lot of money to go to those games, so that's their business," he continued. "College kids, the next person that tells me that they have a scholarship, take the hourly wage of that scholarship and with what these kids do, it might be a penny an hour. So there's no right to boo college kids. If they want to boo me, they pay me a lot of money. They can boo me all they want. Don't boo the kids."

This is the same school that raised such a fuss when IMUS referred to those young ladies on their basketball team as "hoes". Personally I think that they were right to complain and I think their coach was absolutely eloquent in defending those young women.
Now their football fans dmonstrate their lack of sportsmanship and crude behavoir bu insulting another team.

Here's a thought. Football fans, especially drunk football fans, especially drunk football fans from New Jersey are probably not overwhelmingly allied to either political party.
On the other hand, some posters on this board seem to assume that one's political affliliation is the only signifcant attribute of their character. And for those posters, it probably is.

| This is so typical, a handful of drunk idiots ruin for an entire fanbase of people. Don't drag all Rutgers fans into it. I hate when I hear a bunch of fools in stadium spout off obsenities, insults and other defamations. They are the ones that should be called out. What I will blame is the people around them that didn't frown on that kind of behaviour.

| When we (UNC) played them last year and lost on a last second interception in the red zone. Their fans were simply grateful for the win. Throughout the weekend they were respectful, well as respectful as a New Jerseyan can be.

Is there any indication that their jeers, boos, and taunts were politically motivated?
If not and you don't like that kind of stuff, um...I'd suggest not going to a college football game.

The enemies of the US are laughing, waiting for the day the US disolves its military and its police forces. The "progressives" will find out the hard way that they were wrong when nations that do not believe in human rights stroll in and make everyone their bitch, while criminals run amuck committing random acts of violence. They will say" hey we thought you were the good guys"
