Horse feathers a monster fish like that is not gonna come in with a 10 lb leader, nor is it going to come in after 20 mintes.

From the article..
"Her father Mark, a 49-year-old engineer, helped return the catfish to the river after his daughter’s triumph was photographed.

Yeah, but this is just as truthful as any other post LoT has ever made. What were you expecting?

Different kinds of fish have different characteristics when caught; king mackerel fight a while, then give up; dorado fight, get dragged, fight, get dragged, all the way to the boat, then swim parallel; wahoo fight to the boat, then sound straight down. That big ole catfish may not have fought at all, and just got dragged to shore.......if that's the case, 10 lb test would work just fine.

Hum...since I have caught a big fat sturgeon I can attest that they act just like logs. That is also how one of these catfish will feel, and a ten pount test will not land a fish that size unless it willingly lands itself.
I had to use my Dodge Panel truck to haul that big fish in and the leader was wire!

Very true, I caught a three foot one years ago and it never moved other than it's mouth opening and closing...........
