Obama’s Hubris Will be His Undoing

Postby slaol_121 » Wed Oct 24, 2012 10:08 pm

Barack Obama has lost North Carolina and Florida.

His ground game is at near parity in early voting with the GOP, the GOP is more energized, and he is going to lose both.

But he will not stop spending money in those two states and redirect the resources to Ohio, which is now a must win state for him. He will not do it because he does not want news stories to come out in the last two weeks of the campaign that he’s closing up show in two battleground states.

That would convey weakness and demoralize the base.

But they are losing. And in fact, in North Carolina, they are winding down slowly and quietly knowing the GOP has matched their early voting operation and will get people to the polls.

The Obama camp does not want any news stories to come out. They know if they are too open about their plans the GOP will get very loud about the Obama team’s retreat across the map, and the media will be forced to cover the retreat to save face. So they will continue spending some resources in states they cannot win to avoid news stories they find more damaging.

No serious pollsters have had Obama winning FL or NC, but they still have Obama winning the electoral count. It's OHIO. People can hope that 'this state' or 'that state' mean anything, but they don't. It's OHIO. Obama is leading in OHIO and the trend is that he's making more ground there after already being aheads for weeks. If he wins OHIO, and I think he will, then it's over for Romney.

Romney's arrogant attempts to claim a preemptive victory over Obama prior to election day is a desperate attempt to create a Romney momentum that just doesn't exist. By loudly proclaiming himself the inevitable winner in all of his media release Romney hopes to influence undecided voters to flock to the his empty bandwagon.

I hate to disrupt the Romney victory party, but the newly released polling information on RCP gives us the following information:

Ohio- Obama by 2.1%
Nevada- Obama by 2.3%
New Hampshire- Obama by 1%
Wisconsin- Obama by 2.7%
Iowa- Obama by 2%
Michigan- Obama by 4.7%
Colorado- Tie
Virginia- Tie
North Carolina- Romney by 5.7%
Florida- Romney by 1.7%

The early voting in Ohio is running 2 to 1 in favor of Obama and remaining Ohio voters are polling 50/50 in their choice of Romney or Obama. If Romney fails to win Ohio, or Virginia, or Florida on November 5th, the GOP victory party will be over and done with by 9 p.m.

We also have Obama hitting a high of 53% approval rating from Gallup. He has essentially been bumped back to his post-convention high. I see nothing that is looking good for Romney.
