It should be obvious that what I am in support of is Free speech, and that I am appalled by the typical and hypocritiocal positiion of those on the left, that consistantly tell others that they should effectively "just change the channel" , be quite and ignore things they don't agree with, but when it comes to the the Left, when they don't agree with something the answer always seems to be "ban it"

It's ENTIRLEY about Free speech. There are "problems" associated with ANY and ALL Rights. That doesn't make Liberty or Freedom or the ability to have Rights a bad thing. The issue is there is a FAR GREATER evil in limiting Free Speech than there is in allowing it. The fact of the matter is that you want to prevent people from saying things you (and I) disagree with. It's a simple as that. Suggestions that Free Speech will turn us into something akin to Nazi Germany are beyond ridiculous.

You cannot simply disqualify certain speech, without allowing for the disqualification and any speech that that the powers that be may disagree with. Once your standrard is set that speech we do not like or agree with will be banned, then it allows for the potential banning of ANY speech that somebody disagrees with. Who is it that gets to decide what defines hate speech anyway ? I have seen the words bigot and racist thrown around here like they are sugar candies. One need not even say anything derogatory at all to be lablled a bigot. One cannot even discuss race or racial issues politley without being branded a bigot or racist by someone. There is always somebody offended by even the most innocent of comments. Banning Free speech is far more evil and dangerous than allowing it
