My sister met Romney yesterday

Postby patruth » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:08 pm

Romney was in Pittsburgh yesterday and he made an appearance at our local community center. It wasn't advertised but my sister found a way in and had a chance to meet and have a short personal conversation with him. For what it's worth she said he's an extremely down to earth, likeable man. She described him as engaging and genuine. From what she said he comes across much better in person than he does on tv. He's not Reagan but he's our best chance to send Obama packing.
If it's liberal it's failing, corrupt and bankrupt.

From a campaign 2012 site:

"Some more interesting insight into Gov. Romney:

After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar, but never worked as an attorney. As a venture-capitalist, Romney’s first major business deal involved investing in a start-up office supply company with one store in Massachusetts that sold office supplies. That company, called Staples, now has over 2,000 stores and employs over 90,000 people. Romney or his company Bain Capital (using what became known as the “Bain Way”) would go on to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino’s, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others…

Got your calculators handy? Let’s recap. Volunteer campaign worker for his dad’s gubernatorial campaign – 1 year. Unpaid intern in Governor’s office – 8 years. Mormon missionary in Paris – 2 years. Unpaid bishop and stake president for his church – 10 years. No salary as president of the Olympics – 3 years. No salary as MA governor – 4 years. That’s a grand total of 28 years of unpaid service to his country, his community and his church. Why? Because that’s the kind of man Mitt Romney is."

having babysat for his brother & his wife, I met Mitt Romney and his wife at their home when they were going out together when they were in town several times. All of them seemed very genuine and very down to earth. They were very good parents, and they were also generous, always giving me a big tip at the end of the evening. I then went on to work for the resort company he was president of for the next 7 years. The company was good to its employees but when he left, the atmosphere was not as family oriented. (no, I didn't tell HR I knew them to get hired.) I know I knew his brother mostly, but from the few times I did see Mitt, his wife & kids, they seemed to both be very similar in values, caring, showed a geniune interest in my life, and down to earth, just as his brother and his wife.

Oh, and never once did they mention they were mormon.

That's very cool Loxy....I honestly haven't studied Mormonism enough to get the whole anti-mormon thing....had an aunt who converted and she went from a biatch to a nice lady and her kids changed into decent humans too....I have never met a Mormon who wasn't salt of the earth...fine upstanding people...and their woman are generally pretty too....

I did a lot of babysitting from 12-17, and I have to say they were the most memorable as they were the most genuine, and down to earth of any. During the holiday's at 18 and 19 I also would sit for them, when home from school. Most would talk to you for a few minutes about their kids, and how are you, etc., but that was about as far as it generally went.

For all the slack, I do think Romney would make an incomparbly better POTUS than Obama. But he's still not my pick because for all his smart points on fiscal policy, he's a Big Gov't kinda guy. I'll be voting for the Libertarian Party candidate, safely assured in the knowledge that a third party vote in a district such as mine will not contribute to skewing the results in either party's favor.

I lived just outside of Salt Lake City back in the '70s.

Wonderful people if you ask me. The crime rate was about zero, and people didn't even have to lock their doors.

One thing that empresses me is that Mormons generally don't try to push their religion. For example, the nearby liquor store was owned by a Mormon, who had never taken a drink in his life. He told me once that whether people drank or not was none of his business.

I don't have a problem with Romney being a Mormon, because I've known a lot of Mormons, and never had a problem with any of them. I wish I could say that about some of the other religions that think they are superior.

First was Bachman, then Perry, then Cain, then Gingerich, then Satorum, anybody but Mitt Romney. Now its anybody but Obama and Romney. There is no reason to change. We all could do like Romney and flip-flop. We could anounce our love for Romney. Better yet we could hold true to the cause and vote third party.
