It would be the smartest move..

For a host of reasons.

Ok^

Since coming into power in 2009, Gov. Luis Fortuño (R-Puerto Rico) has cut government spending by 20 percent, lowered taxes and raised the territory's bond status to its highest rating in 35 years -- all during a punishing economic climate.

Gov. Fortuño sat down with Reason Magazine Editor in Chief Matt Welch to discuss Puerto Rico's turnaround, federal immigration policy, the drug war, education reform, his support of statehood and a possible future in mainland politics.

That's nice. Paul Ryan has tried to do it across the entire country. All this would be nice if either man were running for President but they aren't. All in all, he wouldn't be a horrible pick. We have Joe Biden for that.

Probably should leave him where he is and try and keep a lid on this slow bleed welfare state.

I wouldn't advise it, it'll look exactly what it would be seen as...trying to pander to the Hispanic vote, and the Democrats will use it for fodder.

Yes, thanks for looking out for your Democrat friends. We really appreciate it. Who gives a rat's rear end what Democrats have to say about anything!?? That's what the election is about!!!! The full repudiation of everything they stand for and whatever they have to say about anything. Pandering??? Do you really think that independents and even moderate Republicans are going to give a damn what Democrats say about it??? So in your world, we're supposed to discount and disregard every minority out there because you're afraid of what some scurvy pigs on the other side have to say about it?? So tell me again, WHY ARE YOU ALLOWED ON THIS FORUM?

You know...I've never met a man who so could utterly twist what a person said and respond to a statement in a manner in which it was never intended until I met you. Yes, I think Independents are going to give a damn...just who the hell do you think gives elections here?

I've never taken you for being stupid or politically naive, sad to say I have come to suspect my ability to discern that in you.

Try being a bit more politically astute here...this is about politics and perception counts for far more then in any other field of endeavor. It's called thinking outside the box.

I'm not afraid of anything, I'm merely stating an obvious fact about political maneuvering and tactics. Why else do you think McCain picked a nobody from Alaska to be his running mate...it sure as hell wasn't her grasp of foreign policy?

Again...as for why I'm here..it's apparent to me I'm here to point out your failings in understanding the basics of political strategy.

Im not to sure about using this person as VP. I do agree nobody should give a "rats ass" about what the Dems will say. Hell, if Romney puts Ghandi on the ballot the Dems will still use all their "isms" to taint him! I think Con. West is prob the best choice so far.
