150 New Jobs Coming to Northeast Indiana

BUTLER, Ind (Indiana's NewsCenter)-Despite all of the troubling job news we've heard recently, there is some good news on the job front for northeast Indiana.

More than 150 new jobs and 5-million dollars worth of investments are on the way, heading to the Therma-Tru doors manufacturing plant in Butler. Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels joined company officials for the announcement. The residential steel and fiberglass door systems manufacturer will soon be the flag-ship plant for the company, following a previous announcement that two other plants, one in Oklahoma and the other in Virginia, will be closing.

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - The Indiana Court of Appeals will hear arguments next month on whether to set aside the results of Muncie's disputed 2007 mayoral election.

The hearing will be held April 14 at Purdue University in West Lafayette.
She's been a crappy mayor, so I hope she loses. Basic city services and repairs (broken power poles) have started to disappear.

State-Tax on Alcohol could double

Taxes on beer, wine and liquor would double across the state July 1 in a proposal to be unveiled today in the State Senate.
The increase -- which would raise the price of a can of beer by about 1 cent -- is part of a multifaceted package to bail out the City of Indianapolis' Capital Improvement Board and pay operating expenses at the Indianapolis Colts' Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indianapolis Pacers' Conseco Fieldhouse.

Ex-envoy rejects Notre Dame award over Obama flap

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — A former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican said Monday she won't accept the University of Notre Dame's top honor at commencement next month because of the Roman Catholic school's decision to have President Barack Obama speak to graduates.

Harvard University law professor and anti-abortion scholar Mary Ann Glendon said in a letter to the school president that giving Obama an honorary degree violates the U.S. bishops' 2004 statement that Catholic institutions shouldn't honor people whose actions conflict with the church's moral principles.
