"We have no interest in a Republican nominee for whom all principles are negotiable, nor in a Republican Party that is willing to trade away principle for pursuit of electoral victory. Trump doesn't reflect Republican ideals of the past; we are certain he shouldn't reflect the GOP of the future."

----

In late July, another prominent Texas newspaper with a history of conservative political endorsements -- the Houston Chronicle -- also made headlines when it endorsed Clinton and labeled Trump a "danger to the Republican Party" in an op-ed.

Newspapers are dinosaurs.

Newspapers are dinosaurs.

Yes, like most bases of factual information and logical thought, they are dying.

The Houston Chronicle is owned by the Hearst Corporation and endorsed Obama in 2008, Romney in 2012, and (after Jeb Bush crashed) Hillary in 2016...Not a conservative newspaper, but a partisan rag representing big banks, Wall Street, and multinational corporations........... :booboo:

Obama's 2008 run was the sole Democratic presidential campaign the Chronicle endorsed since 1964 and only the second since the days of Franklin D. Roosevelt. They are a strongly Republican newspaper.

The gatekeepers were never elected; their exercise of power was illegitimate.

That's okay. Populists and fascists don't care about legitimacy - only power.

The papers only care about satisfying their rich foreign benefactors.

Certainly explains Hillary and the DNC colluding and conspiring against Bernie....all about legitimacy....not power....

:oyvey

You have to admit, even if you hate everything he represents, Trump’s injection of something so unpredictable as the the human soul and free will is thrilling. It means the boys in Silicon Valley and the Nate Silvers of the world are not the mage-kings they present themselves as. They are no more seers than algorithms are nightingales.

This is now the Trumpers argument? A bunch of malarkey about mage-kings and nightingales.

Gee, yeah, that's a good substitute for policy, skill and experience.
