The Bridgegate trial is over. So is Chris Christie’s political career, probably.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) wasn't actually on trial in the Bridgegate case, which ended Friday with the conviction of two of Christie's former top aides. But he'll be hit with a penalty regardless: The former presidential candidate is now and forever officially tainted with that traffic-jammed week on the George Washington Bridge.

And the conviction of Bill Baroni and Bridget Kelly for their roles in closing lanes on one of the world's busiest bridges for five days in 2013 to punish a local mayor will cloud whatever Christie's already-gloomy political future holds.

Not if Trump wins. He will have an appointed position in the new administration. He may well pardon his aides before scramming from NJ.

it'll be overturned on appeal - judge gave improper instructions... it is fascinating in this state which is renowned for its political corruption, most of which is routinely ignored(or else Bobby Menendez would never have seen elected office), that so much energy got wasted on an event where no money changed hands... and Corzine who pilfered hundreds of millions from sequestered client accounts to cover his bad bets, still walks free. You can't make this stuff up.

It doesn't have to be financial corruption to be a serious misuse of government power. What about the lady in the ambulance who was caught in a man-made traffic jam at the GWB?

Does anyone really believe that Christie knew nothing about the prank until he read about it in the papers? That's pretty dumb even for a Trump voter.

I don't really care if Christie knew about it - there's real thieving going on in this state every day, it'd be nice if the Federal Atty did his job. There's also traffic jams in this state every day, usually because 3 guys are watching one guy nail some concrete forms together - could someone do an investigation on that? Or perhaps why it costs 2-3x more than anywhere else to build and maintain a mile of highway in NJ.

Not to point out the elephant in the room or anything but...

Slink:
1: to go or move stealthily or furtively (as in fear or shame) : steal
2: to move in a sinuous provocative manner

Sorry, it's not POSSIBLE for Christie to slink anywhere.

In Arizona , traffic jams are an act of God instigated by the police parked on the side of the road............... :dunno:

What's next for the career of Chris Christie, the fabled NJ governor and presidential candidate one must wonder? Perhaps it will be a night managers position at a McDonald's or a laundromat? Only one thing's for sure, Christie's officially a political liability now - so Trump will dump him.

He'll have an office in a large NYC law firm where he'll make a million a year showing up once a week for a few hours and pretending to look busy. I was going to say that he probably wishes he finished that tunnel but I expect they'll hire a limo for him anyway. If the traffic's heavy they'll send the helicopter.

It will be interesting to see if your prediction comes true. What law firm or investment bank would want his name on their letterhead? Christie gambled on a presidential pardon from Trump. Looks like it ain't happening. Fatso will be setting out the beach chairs at some swim club in Rio de Janeiro before Clinton's inauguration. That's my prediction.

He doesn't need a pardon. He wasn't charged with anything. And as long as Corzine and McGreevey aren't wearing orange jumpers, Gov Fatso has little to worry about.
Even Florio thrown out for his tax increases after one term ended up on one of Trump's Board of Directors. Wonder who he's supporting?

I see you're making excuses for Christie shutting down the bridge. Had it been a Democrat who closed the bridge, would you feel the same way? You don't have to answer b/c we all know the answer :nana: :booboo: :nana:
