while technically fine, this painting is lifeless.
This was the main impression of mine after visiting the biggest European art gallries.
Last summer I visited Dresden art gallery, the ones of Nuremberg, Venice, Florence, Rome, Vatican, let alone smaller museums and galleries in another dozen of European cities.
And also the great Hermitage in Russian St.Petersburg.
So, I can really judge.
European art is completely lifeless till approximately mid 19th century. Wax dolls on canvases.
Very, very few paintings stroke me. Exactly - 2 of all I saw in those European museums. Maybe a dozen more were close to...

You can see the difference between this painting and the one I posted - live and lifeless.
Russian art is generally realistic. It's the main feature of Russian either classic art and literature.

for me that horny woman two posts above is much more an art than this one. And not because ..
