The results of five statewide marijuana initiatives on the ballot Tuesday night could make for a landmark moment in efforts to legalize the recreational drug and push toward a repeal of federal cannabis prohibition. As polls began to close across the country Tuesday afternoon, voters in California, Massachusetts, Arizona, Maine and Nevada each faced ballot initiatives that differ in detail, but all have the same end goal in mind: legalizing the growth, sale, transportation and use of marijuana. Four other states — Arkansas, Florida, Montana and North Dakota — will vote on legalizing medical marijuana. Passing these initiatives would pave the way for openings of recreational marijuana stores and public spaces where people can smoke publicly, as happened in Colorado, Washington, Oregon and Alaska, where weed is already legal. http://patch.com/us/across-america/marijuana-legalization-results-ca-ma-az-nv-me |

With ME and MA tilting towards legalization, folks in NH are wondering WTF. We have always depended on out-of-stater for sales of cigarettes and booze, now the tables are turning. |

Another example of liberalism gone bad. 10 years from now marijuana will be sold by corporations Marlboro, Liggett and Myers and R. J. Reynolds. And their CEO’s will stand before a congressional committee, raise their right hands and swear that marijuana is non-addictive and has no long-term health effects. Another avenue for corporations to make money off of American vices. |

Yeah, the tables sure are turning. Turning backwards. None of these states' votes will matter one iota. Even if Adolph Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about weed, the other 2 Republican Branches of the Federal Government absolutely will. Attorney General Chris Christie or Rudy Guliani will, together with the DEA, close all state stores and grow-ups that currently exist in recreational states. Marijuana's short renaissance will be stifled by the very forces that banned the herb in the 1930's- white supremacism. Weed was originally banned because it was (erroneously) viewed as a social contagion of White Culture, being instead a drug of "n*ggers" and "wetbacks." Say goodbye to your 420, fellow stoners. The party's over. Kaput. Edited by GreenLady, Nov 9 2016, 06:13 PM.

It will happen. But the backlash won't be enough to stop what's coming. The main thrust of action will come from the Republican Congress and the DEA, not Trump/Pence per se. Edited by GreenLady, Nov 10 2016, 12:15 AM.
