Trump says health care, border, jobs are top priorities Washington (AFP) - US President-elect Donald Trump visited Congress on Thursday and proclaimed that health care, border security and jobs will be his top three priorities when he moves to the White House next January. Continuing a Washington victory tour of sorts after his presidential election shocked the world, Trump and Vice president-elect Mike Pence sat down with House Speaker Paul Ryan and then with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to discuss the Republican priorities in Congress. |

What is your opinion on all those with pre-existing conditions losing their insurance upon repeal of Obamacare? |

I don't know how to address that - I have ulcerative colitis; was diagnosed at age 17 so this is something that COULD HAVE affected me (am married to a public school teacher; so I have the best insurance that is possible to have here in Alabama) Trump did say that he did not want to "leave people dying in the streets" or something along those lines people forget, one of the big knocks on Trump early on within republican ranks was that he was a "liberaL' & "a democrat posing as a republican" I do not believe that he intends to leave people high & dry and I don't have all the answers - I DO want my premiums to go down, at least to the levels they were before AHCA was passed I will say this, the whole "healthcare" thing is being looked at the wrong way back in the 70's, when I was a kid, people went to the doctor and PAID for a visit no co-pays - just pay the regular price for a checkup we have it upside down thinking that every trip to any medical professional should be covered by insurance anyone that drives a car MUST have insurance - I am pretty sure this is true in all 50 states how many people do you know that buys car insurance that covers them for oil changes or tune ups?? health insurance used to be thought of in the same way before I married my wife, I was a single dad with custody of a toddler I was alone with my daughter from the time she was 13 mos old until she was 3 what I did was purchase catastrophic health insurance (coverage for major issues) with a high deductible ($5,000 - that was high at the time; not considered outrageously high anymore) and paid for doctor visits I remember being PISSED at a doc's office - they asked for my insurance & I told them I did not have any, I would just pay. The lady told me that the bill would be lower if I could show her an insurance policy; even if that particular visit wasn't covered the bill without coverage - in the $500 range with insurance (even though that trip was not covered) - $125 anyway - back on topic - my guess is that there will be some kind of "safety net" what it will be, I have no clue hardcore righties looking for "revenge & retribution" will be disappointed - Trump is going to pivot look for this to be an issue that he reaches across the aisle on (not the repeal part, but certainly the "replace" part); which is more than Obama ever did |

They charge more without insurance because there is no firewall (insurance company) to force them to cut the inflated price. They have power to do such because the have leverage (customers). You as an individual are powerless and easy to abuse because they have the leverage. (diagnosis and treatment) |

I get it - it still pisses me off more competition will help this when people start treating doctor visits as a regular expense instead of an entitlement to be covered by an insurer; they will start shopping around and prices will come down MOST people do not shop around for healthcare, and I think that is PART of the problem |

If one of his first acts is to remove millions from access to health care without a replacement it will come as a shock to those that didn't care before and voted for him. Watch how fast those types start screaming. It will be like those that looked up Brexit to find out what it was the day after the vote. |

A relationship with a physician is not and should never be a financial based decision but instead a choice of the one that works for you. If that's not the thinking then the process before one even visits that Doctor is a mess. |
