You learn a lot about America on its country roads.

My education came under the tutelage of my father, a man who taught me his love for driving through the South. There’s a beauty in the neat tobacco rows on Highway 64 and the tall, quiet sentinel trees on 87. With mouths full of sunflower seeds, my daddy would quiz me on each plant, animal, and landmark we passed, and I picked up both his habits of driving and cataloguing the things that made us Southern, black, and whole.

Donald J. Trump won going away. The election was not all that close on election night, truth be told, and if our models and forecasts had been more frank, they would have told us to hang it up by 10:00 p.m. ET. The Republican nominee won the Rust Belt and the Sun Belt, cutting wide swaths across the American electorate and even encroaching on the vaunted Clinton firewalls. He won Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, and Wisconsin, and he did it in defiance of every prediction.

We are not a good example. We are not to be admired or envied. We never achieved the heights we thought we had.
In this world, we are not the "good guys"

We have proven this time and time again with anecdotes of hate that have been brushed away as aberrations. But they are not the exception. They are the normal

Now we have taken the step formalizing our true nature as Americans and it is not a good look.

Time to quit denying what we are and what we have always been.

Democrats can't gain the majority without having angry white guys who pay most of the taxes....Nor can they succeed by pandering to illegal aliens, students, an people who don't work for a living.............. :dunno:

I would suggest suicide but as I recently learned reading another thread apparently that advice is frowned upon...

Trumphausen by Proxy - when parents instill in their children irrational fears to garner sympathy and attention for themselves.

Maybe the election of Trump was nothing but a massive plot by campus psychology offices to justify big boosts in funding needed in order to counsel traumatized whiffle-esteemed rose petals who feel crushed by the weight of the real world. Granted that’s just a theory.

Funny, I would have thought we weren't a good example when we slaughtered each other in a civil war or dropped atom bombs. It appears that line was crossed by some people when a candidate pledged to protect working people's jobs from outsourcing and to seek peace instead of nuclear confrontation to protect ISIS

We are what we are and it's time to own up to it.
We aren't a good people and I seriously doubt we ever were.
You set the example of what is wrong, but too normal with our society.

I would rather be the odd man out than be something like you.
Your comments and those a few others are making in the past few months are below despicable, but I realize and now admit that they are the normal in this country.

Americans are capable of good and I'll just as any people are. Get a grip. The worst of America was shown in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the best of America was shown when we showed are generosity and compassion with Sandy or with the Sendai meltdown.

Trump has shaken the earth to its foundations. Unfortunately, many small people now fear the future.

Mr. Donald J. Trump lost the popular vote. He won in a rigged system that favors rural white men, a system which has always served to privilege them. He was successful through a campaign of hate speech, bluster, false promises and lies. His formula was different from that of his opponent but the ingredients were the same. As Reagan understood the movies and radio of his era, so Trump understands TV. Whatever you think Donald Trump is going to do as president, you will be disappointed, even shocked. This will be true whether he succeeds or fails.

Actually the final vote count as of today found the Trump also won the popular vote, so Democrats don't even have that booby prize to hang on to....The hate speech I heard was coming from Democrats, calling Trump supporters deplorables, racists, and bigots......Liberals can't predict what PRESIDENT TRUMP will do.... In 8 years, they were unable to see what Obama was doing...Democrats will be disappointed that Trump will succeed where Obama failed........... :booboo:

Jake, we Americans have a constitutional right which allows any of us to say what we want. There are many on the other hand who are acting like school yard whiners trying to control what other say. There is no end to this, especially on the internet where republicans or conservatives are demanding everyone fall in line in their way of thinking, nothing else will do.

Who is the cry baby whiner?
