If he gets his wall built, and deports many of those now here illegally. I'm sure some will remain, we don't live in a perfect world. Note this wasn't just about illegals. It's time to crack down on h1b visas. |

Trump fans better get used to this sort of flip-flop because it signals that Trump is open for business and ready to make a deal. This President is not going to be on the model of Moses coming down from the mountain with his stone tablets; this is a give-a-little-get-a-little kind of guy putting the pieces together to assemble his plan for his own success. |

All presidents seem to have modified their campaign agendas. Ma Barker would have. That happens when new and more detailed information enters the various proposals. I would expect that a number of general ideas and proposals mentioned during the campaign will change as time move on. I've never concerned myself about what a candidate said they would do but rather what they are now doing and how works out in the end. |

It would have been a flip flop If Trump had promised to deport all Mexicans, Muslims, and end government health insurance as liberals claimed he would....He did flip-flop on the wall, in favor of my plan of a virtual wall of minefields, razor wire, and sniper towers................

Will be funny if Trump turns into Obama III He will modify his Mideast plan until it basically is what have been doing in Syria, Iraq and Afganistan He will modify his immigration plan until it matches what we have already been doing He will modify his health insurance plan until it becomes a modification/improvement on Obamacare He'll find he has no allied support to dump the Iran deal and will "toughen it" through "enforcement" He will renegotiate TPP to "toughen it" but it will be eerily similar to where it is now and existing treaties will be tweaked but left in place |

Obama's foreign policies have been stunningly incompetent...There is no way that Trump is able to match that..........

See Republicans wanted Amensty for illegals all along. They just wanted to be the ones that passed it so they would get the credit |

I completely agree. He'll also get a trillion dollar stimulus passed to repair our roads, something Dems have been wanting for 8 years |

I think you are correct that Trump supporters are not troubled by his 180 degree reversal in mood and tone since victory or the jumping bean flip-flops on policy. I heard on the TV that the press takes Trump literally but not seriously while his supporters take him seriously but not literally. Can't tell the players without a scorecard. |

I see a trend here. The one obstacle that can't be tweaked is his tax plan with massive rate cuts especially in corporate and upper-income brackets. Run against income reported in the past few years, his tax plan would run up hundreds of billions of dollars in annual deficits. Trump's response is that his tax cuts will stimulate such explosive economic growth that federal income will be far greater than it is currently, enough to pay for all his big spending programs in defense, infrastructure etc. This classic -- and discredited -- reaganomics. Again, using recent numbers, the Trump tax cuts would have to produce economic growth in the 10% range to avoid deficit increase, a growth rate like that which China used to have in its heyday. This is a pipe dream. Either Trump walks away from his tax proposals -- infuriating the Republican establishment or he abandons his spending programs or he explodes the deficit sky high. None of these options seems economically practical or politically realistic. We won't have to wait much longer to find out the answer to this riddle. The next Congress will be showtime. |
