http://www.oann.com/giuliani-is-a-leading-candidate-to-be-trumps-secretary-of-state-source/ November 15, 2016 By Steve Holland WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has emerged as a leading candidate to be U.S. secretary of state for President-elect Donald Trump, a source familiar with the situation said on Monday. The source said John Bolton, who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush, was also under consideration to head the State Department. Giuliani, 72, was one of Trump’s most vocal and high-profile supporters on the campaign trail, introducing him frequently at rallies with slashing attacks against Democrat Hillary Clinton. He was New York’s mayor during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and led the city during the crisis after the destruction of the World Trade Center twin towers, working closely with then-President George W. Bush. Giuliani was an early supporter of Trump, has been his friend for many years, and defended him vigorously through the various controversies that ensnared the New York businessman. |

SecState is probably a position where you want someone with experience and the ability to get the President's positions across clearly. Either guy could probably do that. I think Giuliani may be better at conveying Trumps message though. |

Just seems like a flashback to the neocon years - and we just avoided that with almost having Clinton in office. Hopefully Trump will be more the boss then GWB Jr . |

On many issues Trump is less conservative that GWB. On social issues he particularly liberal. Where he has claimed to be different is on trade and immigration issues. Trump's economic plan is not significantly different from that of GWB with the exception of where it intersects with trade and immigration. He does plan to lower corporate tax to a level below what GWB had and he seeks to attack certain loopholes that people in the upper brackets use and this especially applies to people in upper income brackets who do not create any product to earn their living. Trump has stated he personally leans more toward state level decisions on many things but that is not the same as taking the federal government in a far more conservative direction socially. Folks who are expecting Trump personally be considerably more conservative than GWB on social issues are probably going to be highly disappointed. Trump has indicated that on environmental issues he will be to the right of both Obama and GWB. Edited by Demagogue, Nov 15 2016, 01:22 PM.

Most folks care. Even you do. Once you get past the shock of Clinton losing it will matter. Trump won't be as bad as all the crazies on the super left fear he is but there will be policies that the left will feel obligated to oppose and they should. I expect all of you folks on board for that because his majority in the Senate is not a large one and a few people willing to work together could make a difference there. |

Far better than John Bolton, but I would expect AG to be a more natural fit. |

Yeah, we might get some coal jobs back or nuclear energy revitalized... we can't have that. |

There are currently 4 new reactors under construction. There would have been more but the cost of natural gas got so low thanks to fracking that nuclear power did not make economic sense. |

If utility monopolies stop lobbying to hamstring solar, we may not need to frack as much. Trump would go up in my opinion if his anti lobby vibe were to adress this, |

I was thinking more about the regs needed to get a nuclear reactor underway... or even a fuel refinery.... tho we have had a couple come on line, we're way behind the curve thanks to environmental regs No New Oil Refineries Since the 1970s, But Capacity Has Grown http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/on-energy/2011/07/29/no-new-oil-refineries-since-the-1970s-but-capacity-has-grown |

Nobody is hamstringing solar on the industrial scale. It is just not viable on the industrial scale without subsidies. It is getting better but it is not quite there yet. In fact, the only "hamstringing" I can think of is that there has been a movement to get individuals who have solar production to pay their fair share for using the grid if they export power. A properly sized solar system could be designed so that power exportation is never a problem and therefor the grid fee would never be a problem. |
