Trump doesn't have to convince world leaders of anything. With our buying power and our military it's better they think he's a lunatic ready and willing to use military might. Besides, global trade is the best insurance against global conflict. It's rather foolish to declare war against a major trading partner. From a historical perspective the world has never been safer. Capitalism replaces real wars with trade wars. All hail to rigged free markets!
