What do you know about Scan Guard?

An elite team of Certified Microsoft Developers believe they have the perfect solution that can keep your PC running as good as new for years to come.

They've built software that operates using a unique algorithm to scan your system. First, it identifies and blocks any malicious threats hiding anywhere on your computer, then it locates redundant files and cached memory, removing the hidden files that make your PC run slow. Anyone can use it, and it takes 5 minutes to setup. The best thing about the software is they are giving it away completely free.

Me either. But I can tell you in all certainty Scan Guard's console looks exactly like AVG's, which raises alarm bells for me. Scan Guard's on Facebook, so that might be a good place to start researching the software's reliability and credibility.

I have a bad feeling about software that tries to download when you click on their website link.

No thanks.

So do I, plus anything free makes me dig a little deeper.

I think we've found the answer.

The domain name for ScanGuard (scanguard.com) is for sale on several domain marketplaces, with prices ranging from $10K to just over $22K. Either the developers of ScanGuard have little or no faith in their own software, or the site was designed and built with the intent to sell to some suckers.

User Beware.

I wouldn't touch that with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole.

Just the way that the linked material is written scares the hell out of me because it is written as one of those fake news type promotions as if someone just happened to run into the really cool utility when in fact it is nothing more than copy written by a promotions department.

Beyond those general impressions though I have not used it or tested it.

Ok, I went and checked into this. Total clickbait. The software may be an average anti-virus but the promotion is clickbait. What it will do is scan your machine and then find a couple things. When you click quarantine it will then ask you to buy the full version for $49.

One of the guys over a bleeping computer went so far as to call them and try to find out if there is a real promotional rate for the software for one seat. There is not.

General rule of thumb, never click on those ads where it claims there is "one easy trick" that nobody knows about. Those are all bullshit. Heck, never click on click bait ever is a good rule to live by.

Same thing I read and encountered, typical scam by many software sites.
