Residents of a Texas city have been warned by officials not to drink or bathe in the tap water because of a chemical contamination.

Wednesday's advisory applies to more than 300,000 people in Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico coast.
Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting the water stand will not make the water safe, officials say.
The contaminants have not yet been named, but are petroleum-based.
"Only bottled water should be used for all drinking, beverage and food preparation (including baby formula and juice), making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes or clothes, washing hands, and bathing until further notice," said a press release from the city.

Beer is a little fresh water dependant, I'd stick to the hard liquor....been processed a bit farther.

Don't be stupid. It was a precautionary ban over concerns that 24 gallons of the emulsifier MIGHT have leaked into the water system. This hardly rises to the level of contamination in Flint.

:oyvey Geebus it's like herding a bunch of kindergarteners around here.

Another American city has been struck by unsafe drinking water due to corporate greed. Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola, Jimmy Dore, and Michael Shure, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.

"The mayor of Corpus Christi, Texas, said today that 15 percent of the city now has access to potable tap water, nearly two days after a chemical spill left residents unable to drink or bathe in the tap water.

"We've still got a big issue out there," Mayor Dan McQueen told reporters today, adding that he expected water quality test results from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality later this morning."
