It's a democratic republic, one whose constituent parts are created through democratic processes and sustained by a number of laws and principles such as the XIV Amendment, the Australian ballot etc. Do not trust the political science taught by right-wing talk radio. Those guys are feeding you propaganda designed to subvert the Constitution. |

I guess it all depends on whether you are a producer or a taker? He's a threat if you think democracy means you are entitled to a government check, government healthcare, a HUD house and an iPhone. He's a revolutionary hero if you want to keep more of your own money and be protected from an overbearing government. I'm looking forward to a tax cut which means somebody is dreading a cut in their government check. It all evens out. Edited by PATruth, Dec 16 2016, 10:43 AM.

The great threat to American democracy comes when the person in charge become the puppet and toady of a foreign power Being Putin's junior partner gives Trump a blueprint to rule, not govern. In turn Putin expects a lot of leeway towards how he will act, lest he call in Trump's debt Putinism is a hybred of how the People's Republic of China rule their country, through violent intimidation of the citizens (Tianamin Square for example), threats of arrest and black sight incarceration, torture, censorship, and very importantly, one party rule. China and Russia no longer employ communism as their economic model. They have a form of state controlled capitalism, favoring cronyism, expecting companies to toe the line and kiss the ruler's ring, otherwise they too would be considered dissidents, and suffer the same consequences, or at the very least, break one economically through the power of the state IOW, it's a top down, state run mafia Edited by Attaburnsinhell, Dec 16 2016, 10:46 AM.

I'll share your concern when his Secretary of State starts openly selling influence, his IRS director conducts war on the democrats, he lies to us about TrumpCare and he starts bowing to turd world dictators, until then I can't wait for my tax cut! |

If he doesn't cut my taxes, lower the corporate rate, fix immigration and re-negotiate our horrendous trade deals we will all have the opportunity to vote him out in four years. I could care less, I didn't vote for him in the primaries and I've always considered him an arrogant a-hole but I find it next to impossible he could be worse than Obama was or Clinton would have been. |

Atta is funny, the bulk of the democrat party doesn't even pay federal taxes and are on one form of public assistance or another. The wife and I pay enough to cover three democrat families. You should send me a Christmas gift. I thought about getting you a one way ticket to Venezuela....pack toilet paper, bread and toothpaste. |

One of the reasons the Constitution works is because historically Presidents have been willing to constrain their own actions within Constitutional limits. And if they weren't, the Congress was prepared to intervene and remove them. We're now in a situation where the President elect doesn't seem to be in the least concerned about Constitutional limits and probably wouldn't abide by them if he understood them. And we have a Congress that is highly unlikely to intervene to constrain or remove him as long as they're getting what they want. So yes, Donald Trump is potentially a serious threat to the Republic. |

Yes she is gone but that doesn't mean the Trump administration shouldn't be held to the same low standards. You accepted it then and I expect you to accept the same from the Trump administration. I'm thinking there will be a liberal meltdown if Trump passes TrumpCare just to see what's in, along strict partisan lines and lies about being able to keep the ObamaCare you have if you like it period. It's all good though, you've been on top for 8 years, I know you enjoyed it....now it's our turn! Edited by PATruth, Dec 16 2016, 11:15 AM.

Yes. And that's a good thing. Democracy is a discredited relic of the past; it's time to proceed to the next era of Western Civilization. |
