Yes. And that's a good thing. Democracy is a discredited relic of the past; it's time to proceed to the next era of Western Civilization.
Actually western civilization is quite awful. If anything, that's what should be done away with Dirty, obese, polluted, destructive, built on genocide, slavery, stupidity and incompetence, always at war with somebody. Scientists now know that this perversion of humanity isnt reversed, there wont be any civilization, in fact any creatures left on land or sea before the century is out
Western civilization comes with plenty of choices, you can work hard and enjoy the benefits or waste your life doing nothing. I personally love my American life, I have a really nice house, a business, several cars, plenty of toys, I've traveled the world, I have great healthcare and look forward to an enjoyable retirement doing something new. It's all what you make it, if you're a lazy POS living in a trailer and spend your time bitching because others have more than you then life can be pretty miserable. There's no perfect system, there's capitalism and the lifestyle I live or there's attanomics and a life of sacrifice, misery and being controlled by government liars. I don't see Americans flocking to Venezuela or Cuba? Yes, you keep telling everyone you're so happy
I'll betcha you're a miserable person who knows life passed him by but accomplished nothing

This is at best MFAB material as is most of the opinion pieces from Obamaphone profiteer Mexican Billionaire Carlos SLim's blog the NY TImes....
btw mods...when a (ahem) "news" thread title starts with a vague question it is not "news" ....it's opinion....but hey a lib posted it so I expect it to remain where it is....it's what libs try and pass off for news these days.... Ya, what he said.
Wilmy? Come on dude. Do something. I do not disagree that this is a garbage opinion piece but it is a garbage opinion piece from a source that we allow on the news forum.
We have likewise allowed right leaning opinion pieces on the news board.
Trump is not a threat to our Republic. His presidency may be a threat to the DNC's desire for mob rule though.

What you advocate will lead to civil war, with no guarantee that your side will prevail.

It is fun how for the left Trump is a puppet of Russia but his nomination for Ambassador to Israel supports policies that are exactly the opposite of those Russia has for that nation. Yet, the left still wants to complain about this nomination because they fail to realized that their position on Israel mirrors Russia's.
Let's be clear, Russia wants a more communist America and the only way to get that is through the policies of the left. Russia is no longer a Communist country, they could care less about us being communist. That is a left over Rightie talking point.
The appointment of a hard Rightie may do more to drive Arab countries into the arms of Russia than anything else Trump could have done.

What has this country received from its relationship with Saudi Arabia besides smoldering cities?

Russia is in no posolition to deploy troops to multiple regions of the world. Let the Russians die for the Arabs. I could care less. But Putin won't do it because he knows he can't.

I would like to know more about "the economic failures of Communism" because it seems the Russian people enjoyed better living standards, healthcare and education under Communism than they did under the Czars.
The case in China, the largest and most recent Communist country, is even more spectacular. Not only are living standards vastly higher by every measure, the Chinese economy now closely rivals that of the USA as #1.
Even dinky Third World countries like Cuba have measurably improved the standard of living of the people as a result of Communism. The economic statistics behind these claims are scarcely in dispute, so what are those "economic failures of Communism" to which you allude?

Having been to Czechoslovakia right before the fall of communism and each year thereafter for almost a decade.....I will take the after....
The same for the Ukraine, Estonia, Georgia etc....
On the flip side having been to Scandinavian countries especially Sweden and Norway numerous times before the latest invasion I will take the before.....
China's economy only started to boom when their pendulum swung towards capitalism.....but you knew that....
