Quoting limited to 5 levels deep
Yes, we would rather have to pay for those people through welfare (unintended pregnancies and illness that prevent employment) and emergency room visits (preventable illnesses that were not caught early) than to support a group like Planned Parenthood that has a wiff of abortion around it.
If any other business got this kind of blowback over a "whiff" over a "small" part of their business they would simply eliminate the stench and move on stench free....
But Planned Parenthood is not a typical business. They are a charity that has an underlying ethical and moral belief that drives their "product" offering that is more than just a profit motive.
They are a (ahem cough cough) non profit with annual revenue well over $100 million and a CEO that makes north of half a million......who in 2014 snuffed 324,000 babies.... Like NPR and PBS....certainly could function just fine without tax payer largess... Cut it off....it will be just fine ....no gov't teat necessary.... But the funding is really the payment for services to low income/poor individuals. Why should Planned Parenthood not get paid for services provided outside of abortion? Planned Parenthood is one of the few doctor offices that takes Medicaid payments with no questions.

The fact that the medical sector is a mix of for-profit and non-profit corporations is a complicating factor in the healthcare issue. Non-profit hospitals and other service providers need the gentle treatment they get from government to survive. That same tender care allows Big Pharma, high-priced MD specialists and for-profit hospitals to gorge themselves on profit levels that tilt the entire system.
For example, we have recently seen drug companies raise certain prices on stand-by medications by 400%, even 600% with no rise in costs. Medicare is prohibited from negotiating drug prices. This is, quite literally, a license to steal. Trump has said he is going to end this situation. Don't expect any cheers from Big Pharma or their stooges in Congress. Will the Republican Party rally behind their guy on this one or will they cut him off at the knees like they did when Obama tried the same thing?

Planned Parenthood said it would seek court help to block the funding halt, which would cut cancer screenings, birth control, HIV testing and other programs.
...previous funding cuts in Texas have had devastating effects on healthcare for poor residents and the state rarely fills the void for lost services.
Good. Let the private sector pay for it.
Out of the goodness of it's heart with no profit foreseeable?...sooner see the sky turn green. There are college halls needing names. Screw the poor.

Negative feelings towards abortion/those stories is understandable but Planned Parenthood provides many important services, to focus solely on abortion is faulty.
If they were a private entity this would be fine...they are not....if you watched the body parts selling videos from last year any other entity on the planet who did and then were bragging about such atrocities would have been shut down and the principles involved prosecuted harshly.... That Planned Parenthood clings to this barbaric snuffing for what they claim is such a small part of their business shows they at the very least equally as idealistic than those that oppose the mass murdering of mostly minority babies.... Perhaps the Founder of Planned Parenthood , Margaret Sanger was right when she said.... We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members. The videos were a scam.
Actual fake 'news'.
Also no babies are "snuffed". More fake 'news'.
The poorest women that rely on these health services will be hurt by this move. That's not fake news.
Merry Christmas Texas. You really got the message.

Planned Parenthood gave $665K of taxpayer money to the Democrats last year...shut it down! I don't think so, it would be illegal. I suspect they used private funds which make up the bulk of their funding.

If the republicans can figure a better way to keep poor undesirables from reproducing they better let us in on the secret. I hate to think what this country would look like if every crack mammy's pregnancy resulted in another unwanted child. Like most elections, life is a choice between the lesser of two evils, choose the least repulsive.
Trump does seem to have a plan or at least a vision of how to adjust the economy through business growth and restructure government programs to produce better outcomes for people at lower cost to the taxpayer. Will he succeed? Who knows? But he has been elected as a Republican and should he fail, the GOP will not benefit. Some deep red states have had such a fine time tearing things down for the past seven years or more than it may be hard for them to listen to the only President they have and work together to make his promises succeed. The Democrats are licking their chops and hoping the Republican civil war continues until the next election without making any progress. This is not the end of the Democratic Party, but it is the end of the beginning................

Trump may have no elected experience, but he isn't stupid. The right wing wants the TX action on PP to be the first stone in an avalanche that kills not only Obamacare but Medicaid and Social Security. Trump understands that dumping fifteen or twenty million US citizens off the health insurance rolls will provoke a firestorm that would paralyze his larger plans for the American economy and government. Pissing off millions of customers isn't good business, which is why Trump has said that he isn't going to do it. Getting the right wing to STFU is going to be a top priority in his first year. Repeal of Obamacare with some sort of replacement and a sensible lead time is one thing; locking clinic doors overnight is quite another. The righties who have had fun slapping around guys like Boehner and Ryan may find themselves up against a different sort of boss if they get impatient and grumpy with Trump. This is a guy who expects to be obeyed and whose slogan is, "you're fired!"

Planned Parenthood gave $665K of taxpayer money to the Democrats last year...shut it down!
I don't think so, it would be illegal. I suspect they used private funds which make up the bulk of their funding. Cash is fungible and if the bulk of their funds come from the private sector then it should be easy to get off the government teat wouldn't ya say? See how easy that was?
