President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to shut down his charitable foundation, a decision that comes after repeated controversies over how it collected and disbursed funds.

In a statement Saturday, Trump offered no timeline for when his foundation would close down, but said he had directed his attorney to take the steps needed to close the charity. It was also not immediately clear when the foundation would be able to dissolve, given an ongoing investigation in New York.

Trump's charitable foundation is only a little over $1 million and is being investigated...The Clinton Family Charitable Foundation is worth hundreds of Millions and is not being investigated...It sounds like the NY Attorney General hunts for a squirrel while avoiding a herd of elephants...Perhaps the elephants are a protected species to Democrats...........

Given that it doesn't actually appear to be a charitable foundation but rather a way to use tax free funds to benefit Donald Trump, that's probably a good idea.

Hillary Clinton is not President-elect. Are you saying that if Hillary jumps off a bridge it's okay for Trump to jump off a bridge? Because you should have advanced past that kind of thinking at about age 10.

The last I heard was Hillary jumped off the bridge that Trump now owns...Now that the election is over, the Trump Foundation investigation will be closed, and the Clinton Foundation case will be opened....There are consequences for losing an election...One is that the winners keep reminding the losers how the cow ate the cabbage....Handle it.............

Truthfully, Trump doesn't seem all that interested in investigating Clinton at this point. It seems that "lock her up" was just something he fed the rubes so he could get elected.

Seems like nothing more than wishful thinking on your part. But hell, every man needs a dream.

Trump is under intense scrutiny, along with a number of his cabinet choices, for conflict of interest issues. Tossing this sort of red herring (despite the irregularities alleged in the foundation, it is not central to the most serious charges) onto Twitter is the sort of tactic that has worked well for him in the campaign. Whether it will distract congressional lawyers etc. is another question. Similarly, the deflection onto Hillary is already past its sell-by date and although it thrills his fans, it isn't going to fool the public. There are some serious attacks being planned against Trump's financial holdings and C of I; by itself, this isn't going to get him off the hook, as part of a larger strategy, we will have see how things go when confirmation hearings get underway.
