The lowest point in 2016 for the Democratic Party was when Progressive Democrats joined with Republican Conservitives to defeat the Demmocratic Party nominee for president.

I agree. I had hoped that the voting public had learned some lessons over the years, but apparently that lesson will never be learned.

The surest way to win is to sow dissent and distrust between those that should be allies against your opponent and the voters will glom onto that. It has always been that way and there is never going to be any change in that.

Add in some heat sink competition like Nader, Sanders, or Perot and the voter will forfeit his majority to a more zealous but smaller foe.

Then we all get to live under a minority leader.

This indicates, from your writing, that the Democratic Party’s most influential—including who gets nominated (and, in 2016, it was the pro-war, pro-fracking, pro-TPP Hillary Clinton)—are not, no matter how much they may claim otherwise, progressive. And there is no reason for people who are truly progressive to vote for the Democratic Party.

That's been obvious for years...we metaphorically blew up the Republican party....you guys came close but sadly I firmly believe Bernie was a faux foil from the start...it was only after the grass roots started giving him significant traction including their wallets and some big time donors that he suddenly decided to try and make a race of it....by that time though the inane establishment ringer Super Delegates had already sealed the deal.....the fix was in from the beginning....

Rumor has Bernie is trying to start a left wing version of the Tea Party....and pushing the Farrakhanian Ellis for DNC head....

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/nov/15/bernie-sanders-progressive-activism-trump-protests

but frankly that is a bad move....Ellis Hakim will only alienate people even more...and Bernie has out lived his usefulness....

like Trump....you truly need an outsider who doesn't carry the taint of political office....

Progressives need to decide.....do they blow the DNC up (metaphorically speaking of course) or do they strike out and go third party....

I honestly don't think you can take the donkey out of DC and the other bastions of corruption....

3rd party you can start from scratch...though like with the Tea Party once you achieve a certain level of success the problems and internal squabbles that come from that success will pose a serious barrier....

Had Trump not won we were prepared to launch a 3rd party....shrunk the GOP to where the DNC is now...a regional party....
