Can Democrats Stop Trump's White House?; My estimation is "no"

President-elect Donald Trump is still weeks away from officially becoming the next president of the United States, but Democratic senators are already hard at work planning on how they can stop his administration at every turn. Democratic leaders, including incoming Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, are targeting at least eight of Trump’s most controversial White House Cabinet nominations, vowing to stray from Senate tradition and delay confirmation sessions as far into the New Year as March.

No.
The last chance to stop this was in November.
There will be no stopping anything that this guy wants at this point.

Good thing he's of sound mind (that was sarcasm).

They can stop some things that they find a couple Republicans also against. They can slow other things down and make him justify everything he does.

They need to develop as big a Bully Pulpit (a communicator) as he has to counter his personality. That will be tough.

Trump has been victorious in his pre-inauguration period. Today's squashing rebel House members' plans to unplug the Ethics Office is his first victory in Congress. Of course, this one had the support of Speaker Ryan as well; nonetheless, Trump's rule-by-Twitter technique has been impressive so far. Even more than Reagan, Trump is going to be a TV president.

What will happen when Trump tries to rein in the Congressional establishment may be a bit different than his slapping down today's sophomore hijinks. The betting seems to be that Ryan & Co. is a paper tiger and that Mr. Trump, like Old Man River, will just keep rolling along.

Why would they want to? Do they hate Amerika that much? Rhetorical question....

I wish I could be optimistic, but nothing I have seen would allow me to believe this guy hasn't been gifted a free reign. (No typo)

The Republicans couldn't stop him and then became too afraid to fight him.
The Democrats were too trusting of the power of the system to keep him out.

He's a megalomaniac with pretty much unlimited power at this point.
I don't think there is much of anything anyone can do to stop him from doing anything he wants to do.

His followers would support him no matter what he chose to do.
Might as well make little notes for the archeologists to sift through ... the best that can be done is to document the damages.

Can they? Sure, just like the Republicans did with Obama. Maybe not everything, but they can bring most things to a stand still.

But they don't have the stones to do it, and they never had. That's the problem Democrats. They're more interested in appearing "reasonable" than in being effective.

I don't think the question is so much if Democrats can stop Trump, but whether Trump can get anything done in the existing political climate.

Trump rose to power on his ability to deliver a simple message with an emotional appeal to the masses. That's a real talent and all, but not anything that's going to help much getting a bill through committee. He's going to see Democrats filibustering the senate, and he's going to see deflections in his own party - and it only takes three deflections in the senate to sink a bill.

As far as the Democrats go, they've seen relentless attacks on Obama the last 8 years, and Trump shouldn't expect anything less in return.
Without geometry, life is pointless.

Trump's congressional supporters did not get elected by endorsing Mr. Trump. On the contrary they condemned him as a candidate in the harshest terms. They owe Trump nothing and he certainly owes them nothing. And these are Trump's Republican allies that I'm talking about!

In these situations, the President has his popularity with the voters as his only weapon. Mr. Trump's popularity is about as low as possible for someone who actually won the election. Almost 3,000,000 more voters preferred Mrs. Clinton than voted for Mr. Trump. The country is angry and divided. Mr. Trump talks as if he won in a landslide but he has far fewer chips on the table than is usually the case for a president whose party also controls the Congress. For all the bluster, Mr. Trump is not dealing with the fractious GOP House and Senate from a position of power.

Those congressional Republicans have problems of their own. They have a strong majority in the House but the Senate could well turn out to be as frustrating for them as it was for Obama. And then there is the electorate. Mr. Trump squeaked by with some pretty big promises and claims about jobs and wages. The entire House will be reelected in two years, along with one third of the Senate. That doesn't give the GOP a lot of time to deliver on those promises to some pretty skeptical voters.

What a great ride it's going to be. Finally a President that cares more about America than the NWO. It's been nearly 30 years in the making but it will be well worth the wait!

LoL... and this is his latest prediction, which given his track record, we can safely ignore.

The election was close, but there can only be one winner....Many have underestimated Trump....His Presidency will be a winner....Pundits have made horribly bad predictions....Democrats got what they deserved when they nominated a high risk candidate...This is the end of the world as Liberals know it............. :oyvey
