Former CIA director James Woolsey cuts ties with Donald Trump’s transition team amid tensions with intelligence community; “I didn’t want to fly under false colors,” Woolsey said.

Former Central Intelligence Agency director James Woolsey distanced himself from President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team on Thursday evening, a source close to Woolsey told Yahoo News. The move was partially a response to the president-elect’s “attacks” on the intelligence community’s assertion Russia was behind cyberattacks on Democrats during the election.

Trump seems to have an uncanny ability to alienate those who would be his allies.

Nice to see Woolsey still has a moral conscience, and refuses to sell-out America for Trump or the GOP.

There is some mysterious politics going on behind the scenes. Trump's dismissal of the intelligence services has opened renewed warfare between him and Senate GOP leaders McCain and Graham. Surely Trump foresaw this before he tweeted his mouth off about the topic. What was he thinking? Was he perhaps trying to preemptively discredit intelligence about his Russian connections due to come up in the confirmation hearings? I hope one of our Trump fans will clarify the issue for me. Thanks

James Woolsey knows that Saudi Arabia is a major threat, and has stated so publicly. It's a shame we lost him.

Depends on which news source you want to cherry pick. Woolsey also said this.

"Former CIA director: Bill Clinton didn't 'want' intelligence briefings, intel groups should change to work with Trump http://www.aol.com/article/news/2017/01/06/former-cia-director-bill-clinton-didnt-want-intelligence-briefings-trump/21648471/

Former Clinton CIA director and Trump advisor James Woolsey says that the intelligence community needs to change in order to work with President-elect Donald Trump.
...he feels the intelligence community needs to adjust their presentations to Trump's liking, "rather than complaining."
"He doesn't want the morning briefing, apparently," the former CIA chief said during his interview. "Well, neither did Bill Clinton when I was director of Central Intelligence. He read the briefing and asked questions sometimes, so there's not any one way to do that."
But Woolsey suggested the discussions of restructuring were ongoing, both currently and in recent years.

"There's been talk about this, not just within the Trump transition, but around the community for months, verging into years," Woolsey said about the potential restructuring of the CIA."

So is Donald Trump reading the intelligence reports? I don't have a problem if that is how he absorbs information but he has to be exposed to the information on a daily basis.

And we cannot tweet it to him.

Mr. Trump is going to need to patch up relations with the intelligence agencies unless he plans to run the American military on the basis of tweets from Mr. Putin. He's got a lot of backing down left to do from the campaign and he hasn't gotten the knack of it yet. I hope he learns soon because taking the Republican political squabbles inside the executive branch of the federal government, which includes intel. and the military, could be a real disaster.

Trump's repeated defense of the Russian intelligence community is not only suspicious, it's unconscionable. The man has no moral compass, is only interested in furthering his business interests, and he'll soon be our next president.

The best part of the Russia hacking hoax is it only ever became an issue because Hillary was illegally using a flimsy home server for confidential information.

Trump will run the intelligence agencies as he sees fit....,He is the only one who was elected President....The CIA doesn't really know enough to justify daily briefings........... :booboo:

"I have tremendous respect for the work and service done by the men and women of this community to our great nation," Trump said this afternoon. He is getting a lot better at walking backwards.
