http://www.fairus.org/publications/the-fiscal-burden-of-illegal-immigration-on-united-states-taxpayers
This report estimates the annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level to be about $113 billion; nearly $29 billion at the federal level and $84 billion at the state and local level. The study also estimates tax collections from illegal alien workers, both those in the above-ground economy and those in the underground economy. Those receipts do not come close to the level of expenditures and, in any case, are misleading as an offset because over time unemployed and underemployed U.S. workers would replace illegal alien workers.

Do the math, 133 billion/year, that's 9.42 billion/month, if the wall cost 15 billion we would recoup the money in under two months. If it costs 35 billion that's a four month recovery window, after that it's all gravey!
The wall could be the best, most beneficial, cost saving project in American history!

If the wall doubles the national debt and prevents just one single democratic voter from entering, the wall will have payed for itself.

I've got this awful feeling that a year from now I'll be making margaritas with vodka, and eating store bought tamales, possible from a can.

Republicans are spending a lot of political capital on fixing a problem that is not, in my opinion, nearly as significant as they are making out to be. If in a couple of years illegal immigration has been curtailed to a significant degree and yet things aren't better for the average person or if things have actually gotten worse, what then?

So, a 113 billion dollars a year, the violence, the burden on our schools, hospitals, the billions leaving the country, depressed wages, let alone the complete contempt for our laws isn't worth a 30 billion dollar fix? That's about two weeks of deficit spending, I say it's money well spent. Personally I'm just sick of arrogant illegals and their list of demands. They sneak into our country then demand we cater to their lifestyle. I'm also tires of having to press #2 to get someone that speaks English.

So, what happens if in two years the situation hasn't significantly improved for Americans, but illegal immigration has been significantly curtailed? What do Republicans do then? Blame it on the blacks?

In Mexico immigrants that fail to play by these rules face a stiff penalty.
– An illegal immigrant who sneaks into the country, or fails to file his papers, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three.
– An illegal immigrant who forges his documents, or falsifies them by lying when he fills them out, will face fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three.
– An illegal immigrant who takes a job faces fines, up to six years in prison, and deportation.
– All immigrants must provide proof of their legal status if the authorities demand it. Failure to do so will result, once more, in fines, jail, deportation, or a combination of the three.
Do liberals ever get tired of being outsmarted and insulted by third world people?

This thread would be almost comical if it weren't for the fact - Trump will lead us straight into a recession, because the guy's nuts.

I'm getting a cramp explaining the benefits. Why don't you tell me the benefits of having millions of illegals running around that don't respect our laws or our country? Go for it, I'm waiting..

Saving even half of 100 billion dollars a year isn't rainbows and lollipops. If that needs further explanation you should try a knitting forum. I don't think we'll see those savings. And if we do see those savings, they'll most likely go back into the pockets of the wealthiest as tax cuts. Meanwhile, the rest of us will see increased prices for the types of things Mexican labor used to be involved with, agricultural products, poultry, meat packing, and so forth.
So, I imagine you're giddy with joy in the hopes that you'll be able to pocket some of these "tax savings". Whereas I'm looking at having to spend more just to get by.

Yes, I am looking for a tax cut because I did build that, not Obama or Hillary or Bernie....
Things will be changing, I suggest you get on board or get run over..
