...by not putting horribly inaccurate headlines on stories like this. http://time.com/4652863/white-house-statement-holocaust-remembrance-day/?xid=time_socialflow_facebook TIME magazine ought to be ashamed of this. These outlets need to stop confirming Trump's worst stereotypes of them. |

TIME appears to be "catching up" to fake news outlets. This is the type of misleading headline I associate with outlets like Breitbart. TIME is supposed to be better than that. |

In the future, everyone will be a neckbeard. After all, Bannon got a job in the White House. Neckbeards prosper in our society. Mainstream journalists are going bankrupt. |

Horribly inaccurate? So you are saying that the wording of the statement was an accident and not thought out? |

My judgement has nothing to do with the statement, the White House's motives or the White House's response. It has to do with whoever wrote the headline which vastly mischaracterized what the White House said and slanted it to be inflammatory and offensive. The White House did not say they deliberately omitted Jews from the statement. They also did not say anything that could be reasonably interpreted or summarized that way. They said they were trying to be inclusive of all groups that were victimized. One can believe that this is true or false but the headline writer may not say that the White House said something that it clearly did not. That's totally improper. Whether Jews were deliberately omitted or what the precise White House thought process was, I can't say. That fact is not in evidence and people are free to speculate as they wish. But headline writers are not free to speculate. They are certainly not free to grossly misquote someone. |

Here's CNN's story. They handled it appropriately and with a proper headline. http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/28/politics/white-house-holocaust-memorial-day/index.html?sr=fbCNN012917white-house-holocaust-memorial-day0530AMVODtopLink&linkId=33891522 |

Inaccurate headlines have been abundant for several years now. This is one bad example to be sure. |

It is a better headline for the initial statement. The tap dancing that took place when questions were asked... "Asked if the White House was suggesting President Donald Trump didn't mention Jews as victims of the Holocaust because he didn't want to offend the other people the Nazis targeted and killed, Hicks replied, "it was our honor to issue a statement in remembrance of this important day.""... not so much. We agree on the headline to a great extent. The context and thinking that the White House put behind as it was a less than usual recognition and it is not reflected in that headline. So while you find one headline went too far perhaps the other one does not reflect a reflection and follow up when queried for an explanation. Maybe I'm too close to the event by family but to me it stands out as a purposeful omission that this headline prefers to bypass. I don't like that step. By all means include everyone that those bastards tortured and slaughtered. They should be. Never forget should mean everyone. But when you ignore the drive to exterminate an entire population you don't forget that or blithely skip over an inquiry as to why. |

if you mean that they could regain some credibility if they cease and desist from histrionic wailing every day about some outrage or indignity; then yes + 1 I agree they need to clam down and collect themselves - enough already... Edited by dcbl, Jan 30 2017, 07:41 AM.

The lib media seem to be de-evolving , journalistically speaking, right before our very eyes. It's fascinating, in a pathetic sort of way, actually... the irony is the 2ams and C2C's of the world are missing most of it because of their narrow closed minded news echo chambers that they swaddle themselves in... Big world of info out there fellas...embrace it .... |

I just think they have a responsibility to be accurate. They are actually supposed to cover histrionic wailing. They did with the Tea Party. Now they are doing the same with the anti-Trumpers. That's part of the job. But they've got a responsibility to get it right. Otherwise, they become no better than Breitbart or Addicting Info. |

Incorrect they can't help themselves, 90% of them are in bed with the democrat party. In fact they are the democrat party, defending Hillary and bashing Trump has been their full time obsession for the past year. Now that they have no need to defend Hillary they can allocate 100% of their time to falsifying and twisting the news against Trump. I was watching that pathetic POS Rachel Maddow the other day discussing immigration. She was bashing Trump in relentless fashion. She kept going on about his hatred for immigrants and how Trump was going to deport all immigrants. Funny, not once did she use the term "illegal". If you actually believed her BS you would think Trump was going to deport everyone still alive that came through Ellis Island. |

Maddow isn't a real journalist. She's an advocate - the left's version of Sean Hannity. I expect her to be biased. That's what she's paid to be. But I expect better of actual journalists. |
