Donald Trump is suddenly looking like a very weak autocrat; WaPo Opinion piece

President Trump once again unleashed a fearsome barrage of tweets on Wednesday morning. The target was the New York Times’s new report that intelligence officials have established contacts between Russian intelligence and Trump campaign officials during the campaign.

Trump attacked the news media again, railing that “the fake news media is going crazy with their conspiracy theories and blind hatred.” He also blasted the intelligence services, claiming that they are “illegally” giving information to the media, which, he opined, is “just like Russia.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2017/02/15/donald-trump-is-suddenly-looking-like-a-very-weak-autocrat/?utm_term=.c089822e436b

Some *snips*

-When the courts blocked his immigration ban, he blasted both the courts and the news media for making us less safe, in what seemed to be designed to lay the groundwork to blame them for a future terrorist attack, a move that even some Republicans criticized for its authoritarian tendencies. This appeared to be a test run of sorts, in which Trump was experimenting with how far he could go in delegitimizing the institutions that might act as a check on his power later.

But as a test run, for now, at least, it is failing. Trump’s unchecked antics on multiple fronts are suddenly making him look like a very weak autocrat wannabe.

-A doubling-down on Trump’s worst policies, perhaps in the form of a newly implemented and then expanded “Muslim ban,” or in the form of stepped-up deportations, remain real possibilities. A terrorist attack could empower Trump and lead to far worse.

But right now, Trump looks weaker, less effective and even more ridiculous than anyone might have anticipated — and it happened surprisingly quickly, too.

The Lemonade Salesman in Chief is currently railing at the media for firing Flynn.
Huh?

How twisted can this guy get? He fired Flynn.
Can't wait for the latest alternative truth about this one from Kelleyanne.

Obama wore the pride of every turd world dictator on the planet. It was usually running down his face and dripping from his chin. I guess some people saw the pants pooper and the sellout, Hillary Clinton as their pillar of strength? She was brave, she wasn't afraid to sell the State Department to anyone with cash!

Just more liberal butthurt, move along nothing to see...

Trump hasn't done anything outside the bounds of the past 5 presidents. The only difference here is that you have a horde of butthurt and vain leftists that lost a popularity contest, a media cartel that is tied in with ideology and the deep state and of course - left over Obama appointees and deep state officials in the intelligence community that want to down Trump so they can go back to drinking the blood of three year olds.

Trying to defend a walking disaster of a President who has approval ratings in the low 40s by running down a President who left office with approval ratings in the mid 50s is a pretty damn tough row to hoe.

You hate Obama, we all get that. But your hatred of Obama in no way makes Trump a better President, or even a good one.

The man is incompetent suck on wheels. And he might even be traitorous incompetent suck on wheels.

A 'walking disaster' and 'incompetent' according to a marxist, who's very ideas have repeatedly fallen on the blade of history.

You hate Trump, we all get that. Why is that? I'm thinking because he's a successful private sector businessman and not a government bureaucrat.

I do not hate Obama, I have often characterized him as a decent man and good father. That said he was an incompetent and weak leader. He was one of the most partisan president and a liar, in fact he was a horrific and calculated liar.

Trump is a little out of his element in government, that is to be expected. Washington is bureaucratic disaster, Trump is used to efficiency and getting things done. Trump will learn government much quicker than Obama learned business and economics. The "you didn't build that" president had no idea what made business work, he spent 8 years attacking the private sector.

I freely admit, I'm not a Trump fan. Now, the fact that he's a Republican would have been a strike against him in my book, right from the get go. But that's not why I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan because he has proved himself to be ignorant, uncouth, unnecessarily provocative, unwilling to accept responsibility for anything, lacking in judgment, having white supremacist tendencies, and gives every indication of not being all that bright.

Basically the poster boy for white and wealthy elite privilege. And proof positive that being rich doesn't mean you're a superior person, or even an above average person.

And the only reasons you like him is a) because he aggravates liberals and b) he's going to cut your taxes.

That's pretty close, I've consistently called Trump an arrogant a-hole, he proves that on a daily basis. That said I like his pro-business, pro-America polices. I want an end to illegal immigration. I want US companies to have a tax rate equal to their competitors. I want trade laws that promote competition, not lopsided trade. I want reasonably priced healthcare, not a mountain of regulations that restrict access and choices. I want real wage competition that leads to higher wages, especially for unskilled labor. Yes, I'll gladly take a tax cut but that's not my number one priority. There is nothing insidious about wanting my country and our citizens to excel and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Making liberals crazy is just an added bounus!

And here is an example of what I think Trump is incompetent and not very bright, his response when asked a question about anti-Semitic violence:

Quote:

Well, I just want to say that we are, you know, very honored by the victory that we had. 306 electoral college votes. We were not supposed to crack 220. You know that, right? There was no way to 221 but then they said there’s no way to 270. And there’s tremendous enthusiasm out there. I will say that we are going to have peace in this country. We are going to stop crime in this country. We are going to do everything within our power to stop long-simmering racism and every other thing that’s going on, because a lot of bad things have been taking place over a long period of time. I think one of the reasons I won the election is because we have a very, very divided nation. Very divided, and hopefully, I’ll be able to do something about that. And I—you know, it's something that was very important to me.

As far as people, Jewish people—so many friends, a daughter who happens to be here right now. A son-in-law, and three beautiful grandchildren. I think that you’re going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. I think a lot of good things are happening and you’re going to see a lot of love. You’re going to see a lot of love. OK? Thank you.

It's a dumb question, there is no "scourge in anti-Semitic violence".

There is however a scourge of SJW fake news outlets and their congregations calling everyone they disagree with a Nazi.

How do we manage that bigotry OP?

Again, you are sounding like a freshman that just read the intro to the Communist Manifesto. Corporations built the economic house, without them we would look like Cuba. They have no desire to burn down the house they have trillions invested in. Stop sounding silly and stop with the Marxist diatribe. We all have a stake in this economy, it's not us against the corporations. I live very well thanks in part to a large American corporation and I have to say, they treat my wife very well.

It's amazing, I can buy anything on the planet from my couch, 24/7 because of big corporations! What do I get from government, my SINGLE BIGGEST EXPENSE? Threatening letters and bad roads? You are free to boycott any company you don't like, try that with government. Government is an uncaring monopoly that forces sheit services down our throats. That is a fact..
And yet there are always corporations who will burn down the economic house because of their own arrogance and greed. History here in the U.S. has shown that to be the case again, and again, and again.

What's it going to take for people like you to get it?
Again, you are sounding like a freshman that just read the intro to the Communist Manifesto. Corporations built the economic house, without them we would look like Cuba. They have no desire to burn down the house they have trillions invested in. Stop sounding silly and stop with the Marxist diatribe. We all have a stake in this economy, it's not us against the corporations. I live very well thanks in part to a large American corporation and I have to say, they treat my wife very well.
So basically you're going to characterize any opinion that uses historical fact as a basis as being "juvenile" because you personally refuse to accept the truth.

They may not have the "desire" to burn down the economic house, but the fact is they still blithely light the fires because they think they have it all figured out and can't possibly get burned. Yet, they always do and they always burn us as well.

Trump is just a Lemonade hustler....

I'm assuming you're talking about the 08' financial meltdown? That's interesting because the financial sector it the most regulated industry in the US? Where was your sacred government? Second, FNMA as you know, was by far the biggest financial failure and the trigger for most of the other failures. Third, it's our federal government that has us 20 trillion dollars in debt, probably at least twice that much if you factor in unfunded liabilities. Last, the federal government recovered ever dollar spent to bail out the banks, who's going to pay back the 20+ trillion dollars? Face it, it's government that is the cause and the effect.
"No. No he won't. We'll stop it."
