The Justice Department unsealed a fresh indictment Tuesday charging eight Navy officials — including an admiral — with corruption and other crimes in the “Fat Leonard” bribery case, escalating an epic scandal that has dogged the Navy for four years. https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/admiral-seven-others-charged-with-corruption-in-new-fat-leonard-indictment/2017/03/14/faf01600-08da-11e7-b77c-0047d15a24e0_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_navy-345pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.bc9c7537d538 |

The military-industrial complex in America is accustomed to be treated well by contractors....Afterall, they buy hundreds of billions of stuff from contractors with taxpayer dollars....After leaving military service officers involved with defense contracts are often hired as executives by the contractors...........

I had a history professor back in the day(mid 70s) who correctly predicted the fall of the USSR - his theory was that govts can never successfully override nationalism(the EU is finding this out). He was in the OSS during the war and used to talk about the Poles attacking German tanks on horseback. I later found out that his account was somewhat exaggerated but that the Poles, despite being overwhelmingly outgunned, did manage to delay the German offensive for a number of hours. Most of the eastern Europeans have had a number of experiences with Russian expansionism, one doubts they would sign on for that again willingly. Apparently, your only joy is to rave on about American deficiencies in a sad attempt to make your own decrepit economy look better. Ruble still less than 2 cents, right? |

Jake, please refrain from saying anything on economy, it gives me excellent oppotunity to humiliate you explaining too obvious and simple things, like why Yen = $ 0.0088 and it does not mean it's weaker than Ruouble, for example. But it will be too boring and will take too much time to educate you to understand even basic things. Nationalism is different thing, it doesn't prevent fusion of ethnoses into new ones. Complementarity is what matters, i.e. subconscious sympathy and similar values, spirit. After all, you can hardly find a nation which was not formed from several ones. So, from this point of view USSR was not doomed, just it needed 100 more years to melt ethnic minorities into one. We didn't have separate race and ethnic areas and neighbourhoods, like the US has or antagonism between major ethnoses. It was socialism which killed the USSR, not nationalism. Poles managed to delay their defeat for several hours, true If some French and Dutch surrendered within minutes, Poles were retards to do it in hours ![]() |

And my joy is caused solely by current gap between US propaganda and reality. Just imagine, a country which has monopoly on corruption (Russia of course) makes her hackers... what? I mean what would one invent to fit current level of idiocy and histeria achieved by your media and public to propose a politically correct reading of the mentioned incident?

well if the ruble is less than 2 cents, what's a kopeck? Let me lay a little Mark Twain on you - Better to sit quietly and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove any doubt. I can certainly find a nation that wasn't formed from several ones. I live in it. It's called the melting pot because we have all manner of colors and ethnicities here and only Detroit looks like Grozny... where I'm sure there was never any antagonism between ethnicities. Idiot. And it WAS nationalism which doomed the USSR because that's how it was split up, along nationalist boundaries, despite your prevarications. |

Ok, Jake, if you find pleasure in exposure of you stupidity let it be so. Drudge can also benefit from this lesson, he mentiones it too. It does not matter how many roubles one dollar is , what matters is scale, measure, ratio of local benefit to local currency. If a McDonalds hamburger is $1 in the US and 60 Roubles in Russia (=$1) it does not matter how many Roubles one dollar is, what matters is how many roubles an income is, if one gets 60 times more roubles than the required sum in dollars - the income is equial regardless of USD-Rouble ratio. If medium salary in the US is let's say $2000 a month (correct me), you spend 500 on health care and $1000 for housing, and a medium salary in the closest to me town in Moscow region is 50 000 Roubles a month, which is $847 but health care is free, most people live in own flats with no mortgage and many goods are cheaper - who lives better? I don't say Russians live better than Americans, but level of life is comparable. Now, let me educate you on US doctrines and ideology ![]() The melting pot would be an excellent example of my idea if it was working in the US but it does not any more, so now official US doctrine is multiculturalism, a theory of crazy quilt. And, by the way, it worked for some time because of complementarity of first European immigrants, common values and more or less similar spirit. And melting pot failed now and in the rest and most of cases due to absolute absence of complementarity between whites and blacks, whiles and Latinos, Asians etc. And regarding nationalism in Russia/USSR, let me educate you that durung communist revolution of 1917 there were many various republics in proper ethnic Russia, as well in 1990s regional elites were trying to create ones, there were attempts to create Urals Russian republic, Far East Russian republic, as well trade barriers and borders were emerging even between smaller regions. Nationalism can be used to break the multiethnic state apart along with other tools by local elites, but it is seldom the primary cause, economy mostly is, as well even if there's no nationalism - regionalism may be used as substitution, underlining that the very same economy (our regional level of life is higher, we don't want to feed anybody else) is the main cause. And since the wealth is the only and main ideology of the EU - any crisis will bury it. Since rich ones don't want to feed poor ones and poor ones increase their demands during crisis. As you see not Greece left the EU despite its extreme disappointment with it but rich Britts ![]() Anyway, you may be too ignorant to understand all this, but I hope it helped you to start this prosess... Here, Jake, you can compare. https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Russia&city1=Moscow&country2=United+States&city2=New+York%2C+NY&amount=55664.00&displayCurrency=RUB According to statistics an everage salary in Moscow now is slightly less than $1000 - ~55000 Roubles . Now $1 = 58 roubles approximately. But if you compare prices to get what an average Moscovite can afford himself you have to earn $2386 in New York. But to compare correctly you must first exclude from your US salary expenditures on healthcare and education of your children, because in Russia you can get it for free. Except medicine and university (if your marks are below certain level and you cannot get free scholarship). Besides, you can buy not Toyota Cortola but a Russian car which is 3 times cheaper etc.. So, I think Americans are a little more wealthy but generally level of life doesn't differ so much... What really differs is the scale you're informed/brainwashed about your and our life

You dont have enough Amphibious Landing ships to transport enough troops to have a successful invasion. and the ships you do have are scattered between the Northern Fleet, Black Sea Fleet and the Pacific Fleet... Also... Russia has to my knowledge never attempted an amphibious operation on a scale of the size needed to invade even Alaska.. Your planned Lavina class Amphibious assault ship is still on the design boards... .. completion will be at least 7 to 10 years... in other words...you are blowing more smoke than your broken down Carrier... Keep dreaming Edited by voted4reagan, Mar 25 2017, 07:01 AM.

Although there are Alaskans who speak Russian, there are not enough ethnic Russians to require Russia to protect their interests....The USA should be more concerned with a Russian invasion of Brighton Beach, New York.............

Fortunately now after Crimea returned to Russia, we again will start building ZUBRes. ![]() But, V4R, if you don't get irony - I think I will not waste time to explain. If our enemies will kick our ass in Finnish way, I'm afraid we will have no option but to conquer the World.

By the way, V4R, I got interested myself and searched for info, so - Russian military say they plan to resume production of "Zubr"es in Crimea, also China (and Greece) has several of them and may buy some. Every one of them can take 3 tanks or 10 armored vehicles with 140 marines or 500 marines. The speed is 60 knots. I'm afraid Alaska is doomed.... ![]() ![]() ![]()
