John McCain: Russia is a 'gas station masquerading as a country' Either US politicians are extraordinally inconsistent even for politucians or the US is a country which managed to get its election manipulated by a gas station... ![]() But still, a question to those who supports this conspiracy theory, I just still can't get it, did Russia (if it was she) influenced the results of the elections via revealing the lie or the truth about Hillary? I mean - maybe US elections are normally based on total lie and fraud and Russia broke the normal consequence of events where US politicians must lie and then people elect those who lied the most? I just may not fully understand how US democracy works.... Can't wait till next season of House of cards is released, by the way, it's excellent, despite some flaws and regular myths, like undependant press and honest journalists, for example...

If we accept the evaluation of the US agencies then there is no question that the Russians hacked the DNC servers during the Democratic primaries. They did release information that implicated the DNC in an active campaign to get Clinton nominated over Sanders. After that, exactly what did they supposedly do? |

Stealing data and releasing it is only one form of Info Wars attack and in the case of Trump, far from the first. We are engaged in a new Cold War with Russia, one which, like the earlier Cold War, does not involve direct military conflict but which, nonetheless, directly threatens American national security by attacking the web of foreign alliances which is the structure of our global military posture. The Russian attack also seeks to disrupt American democracy and paralyze our government socially and economically as well as militarily. If you are unaware of the history and extent of the new Cold War being waged on the West by Russia, you really need to find out from a more thorough source than a few posts on this site. This is the article which has gotten the highest national acclaim on the subject in recent weeks: TRUMP, PUTIN, AND THE NEW COLD WAR What lay behind Russia’s interference in the 2016 election—and what lies ahead? By Evan Osnos, David Remnick, and Joshua Yaffa http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/03/06/trump-putin-and-the-new-cold-war Seriously, Dude, there is a lot more here than meets the partisan eye. |

George, you still didn't answer the question - how? How Russia interfered, dusrupted, endangered etc.? By revealing the fact you are, for example, a male - are you somehow disrupted on indangered? You might be so if what you do poses some threat to public, but if not - who cares? So, is it good or bad for American public to learn dirty secrets of US officials if they misbehave somehow? What would you personally prefer - to know more or to know less about people you vote for? ![]() So, whoever made you more informed on people you vote for - should you thank them or blame for that people you wanted to vote for turned to be criminals?

By the way, I suppose it was Demagogue, but I am not sure, who pointed out that CIA could hardly hack Clinton's e-mail if it suppurted her. Applying this logic - can you explain this example of Secret services actions, except that they by all means create opportunities to boost their importance? and who cares how..Just read today in Wikipedia... National Democratic Party of Germany .... a far-right[9] and ultranationalist[10] political party in Germany. The party was founded in 1964 as ... blah blah blah ...while the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz, classifies the NPD as a "threat to the constitutional order" because of its platform and philosophy, and it is under their observation.[16] An effort to outlaw the party failed in 2003, because the government had a large number of informers and agents in the party, some in high position, who had written part of the material used against them. In Russian version of Wiki they say every 7th member of this party leadership turned to be a modern Shtazi agent ![]() German government hired people to found a nazi party, to make racist statements to later ban it ![]() And you say CIA could not act like this? just to use Clinton to become a powerful engine of boosting CIA importance, power and budget. ![]() regardless of if she becomes a president or not... Whether intentionally or not, you are asking the wrong question. The Russian Info War isn't just about taking in information illegally, it is about putting out false information deliberately. I recommend http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/03/06/trump-putin-and-the-new-cold-war to get a better picture. |

If the "new Cold War" involves disclosing politicians behavior and communications, it is indeed very cold like Obama's actions in the recent Israel election....I would not be shocked if it was Netanyahu who ordered retaliatory hacks of the DNC...Israel had the most to gain from a Trump victory............

An interesting hypothesis. Trump has so far done more to slow the settlements than any either of his two predecessors. Netanyahu's concessions are minuscule to be sure but they are concessions. I think both Trump and Netanyahu sense that Israel is reaching the limit of what it can grab in the West Bank (a lot) and that there is a need to stabilize the Palestinian state before whatever happens to the north changes the rules. Stand the Palestinians against ISIS and Iran and they look pretty good to Israelis. Creation of a Palestinian buffer state like Lebanon would be a strategic improvement in the current Middle East. |
