At least one woman was killed and three other people were injured in Saturday's strikes in Khan Sheikhoun, two activists in the town said. The strike that killed the woman happened in a residential neighborhood, activist Alaa Al-Youssef said. It wasn't clear from where the strikes were launched, but the Syrian air force resumed flight operations at the base the United States struck Friday, two pro-regime media outlets and an opposition group said Saturday. A video on Instagram, posted Saturday by a reporter from the state-run Russia-24 outlet, purported to show a jet rolling down a tarmac at the air base. The caption reads: "Return to work at Shayrat."

A senior military source in the alliance fighting in support of President Bashar al-Assad said the airbase had been mostly evacuated thanks to a warning from Russia, which has deployed its military to Syria in support of Assad.

The United States warned Russia ahead of the attack.

actually, according to mutually signed proticol of avoidance of incidents in Syria both the US and Russia must inform each other of any activity in areas where they can meet.
So, you propose to start a war by not folliwing a protocol? :)
Anyway, Russia suspended it, now Trump can do it again without warning... :)

Quite correct. On another thread I previously made a reference to this "deconfliction" connection. It's hard to see Russia being informed of the strike and not telling the Assad regime. That would be a real stab in the back to a Russian ally.

The larger question is: knowing that Russia would be informed in advance and that passing on the information to the Syrians would be far more likely than not, what exactly did Trump hope to achieve with all those missiles?

One suspects that a major goal was effecting his talks with China, looking tough to North Korea and his US voter base etc. It was a pretty expensive bit of political theater and Assad has used the same base to strike the same area (although not with Sarin) the next day.

They were not given enough time to move any chemical weapons.

It will be interesting to see if Tillerson will travel to Moscow next week, as planned, he likely will, my guess is he won't meet with Putin.

When Tillerson arrives in Moscow the first thing he will do is to bitch slap Vlad and to add insult to injury he will give the guy a Melvin for good measure. We now own Putin.

as I said, the US motives and politics are so transparent I can hardly believe humans can buy that bs about Russian hackers or Assad chemical weapons.
I mean Serbia and Iraq wars were "victorous mini-wars" prior to re-election campaigns, recent strikes are to stop Russiagate (no effect on China, I think, though maybe some on N.Korea, but rather a countereffect - they will speed up development of intercontinental missiles), Russiagate is sucked out of finger as we say - created out of nothing - motives, actors and instrunents are too visible to suppose anything else but amazingly it works for many Americans.
Though I am not sure franly saying, a human being cannot be so brainless, I suppose most Democrats just play this game pretending they believe it since they have nothing else to use against their political opponents.
The same must be said about this chemucal incudent - it's absolutely obvious it's just used as justification since no investigation was made. anyone saying in advance it was Assad without proofs must be either a manipulator, or a cinical lier, or a Democrat, or all combined :)

This defense is pretty much the Moscow line. As for not having enough warning time to remove chemical weapons, those weapons were in the form of aerial bombs. You don't leave those lying around somewhere. They were either on a plane or a truck. Either way, time to evacuate them = a couple of minutes.

As for the absurd lie used before that it was the rebels who possessed the sarin bombs, it just doesn't make sense. There is no record of any such possession while the regime has a decades long history of having them and using them. Last we heard, they were handed back to their Russian allies who, obviously, returned a couple for the latest attack.

The rebels would have no reason to possess sarin bombs as they have no planes from which to launch them. They certainly would have no reason to store them in the middle of the village.

Come on, Siberian, you have to be able to do a lot better than that.

using them? George, exit your dream World where you draw reality which fits your wishes - and please give me a single link to information of "Assad decades long use of chemical weapons". :)
As for the rebels - here is an Amerucan sourse of ISIS USING CHEMICAL WEAPONS AGAINST KURDS.
As we know US arms supplied to so called "moderate rebels" end up in ISIS hands, since "moderate rebels " are an affiliate of Al-Qaida and ISIS specially established to get resourses from Obama, and to be presented by Obama as a reason he sends weapons to ISIS, there is no real division between them, they fight alongside each other - and Russia demanded the US to separate them if Washington wanted us not to bomb "moderates" - and failed.
So, if ISIS has chemical weapons - most probably all and any of them can have.
Then, you say it was sarin bombs. Who told you this? White helmets? which is a fusion of CIA and Al-Qaida.. There was no investigation, Trump gave the order hours after that bombing and Western press and establishment hurried to accuse Assad minutes after they published all this via their White helmets.
The whole thing is an obvious false flag attack, or to be presise a incident of own chemical weapons blamd for Assad, made to find an excuse for Trump to rehabilitate himself slightly after hysteria of Democrats about "Russiagate".

Which indicates that when the Syrian Air Force uses sarin gas, 1400 people die....When a few dozen die, you need to find someone else to blame................ :oyvey

Oh, that very attack which happened a couple of days prior of visit of UN team to investigate previous Western claimes of use chemical weapon by Assad? :)
We perfectly know White helmets (aka both Al-Qaida and CIA) use staged photos of resquing the same girl in multiple places, of staged photos of victims and attacks.
Don't you think if anyone was to use chemical weapons 2 days before investigation starts of alleged Assad chem attacks - it was not Assad but his opponents :)
And, the most important - UN did nit establish who did it, it just confirmed that chemical weapons were used.
And a missile was of WWII time Soviet mass missile launcher Katyusha which Al-Qaida has in abundance, it was not used by Assad's army by now, was mostly hand made in this way.

The UK's Joint Intelligence Committee publicly dismissed the possibility of rebel responsibility for the attack in Ghouta, stating that rebels are incapable of an attack of its scale.[79] The Committee stated that "there is no credible intelligence or evidence to substantiate the claims or the possession of CW by the opposition."
