North Korea vows response to 'reckless' US Navy move

I'm skeptical of these characterizations of Mr. Kim as crazy. People who talk this way are usually ignorant about North Korea's political, economic, and economic structure. I'm not at all a fan of PRNK but the ruling group has achieved their very ambitious goals with very little help. They are not stupid or out of touch.

It was fashionable until the invasion of Iraq to characterize Saddam Hussein as a madman and insane. It's a propaganda technique used to whip the population into line supporting a dubious war.

The only people who are really threatened here are those in South Korea and possibly Japan.

Obviously the preferred option would be for China to have some of it's agents in NK forcibly retire their current dictator and then establish a new government in that country.

The regular citizens of NK are the folks who really lose in any conflict just as the lose if we do nothing. They are living in some of the worst conditions there are. For more than 90% of the citizenry of that nation living in poverty in the USA would seem like a life of luxury.

I don't know if the Chinese will work with us on him or not. Obviously we would have to make some concession in order for them to do with but it would certainly be nice if they would. We have to ability to remove his nuclear arsenal if we want to but it will be expensive and bloody and I don't think it is the best option if it can be avoided.
Attacking a nuclear country can be suicidal....No one is certain that North Korea doesn't have a nuke in a basement in Washington DC and Sarin gas at several Kim Chi restaurants around the US...Assassinating or deposing Kim Jong Un does not mean their weapons threat is neutralized any more than ours was when Nixon was forced out of office....All the sane leaders in North Korea were eliminated....We are dealing with a government run by all nut cases..............
Oh the irony...

North Korea's political, economic, and economic structure is based on starving the people to finance building a nuclear arsenal.

It would be reasonable if he distracts attention using some defensless "evil" country like Serbia. But instead in Syria he risks war with Russia, in N.Korea he risks nuclear war. In both cases he will hardly enjoy consequences, including consequences at home.
His approach is quite questionable, i.e. these 2 adventures and general line to more bullying can hardly be successful. More likely he will aggrevate his situation. But now he lost many supporters.
But we'll see.
Nuclear war is preferable to the immigration policies of the past.

Trump seems to be a risky guy :) and a bluffer.
A risky bluffer... And since Democrats have broken him - the rest will also do.
I mean yes, every year China becomes stronger and will finally topple the US and it will simply destroy the US economy, which is too addicted to printing money and issuing debt, and it depends on the US Dollar being the World trade and reserve currency.
So, the US needs to attack China and to do it the day before yesterday.
But the US has lost its chances already.
Any big war the US starts, either against Russia or China will stop the US from being number one.
Trump's desperate for distractions, he needs to take the media, and especially congresses attention, off him, and put it on someone even crazier and more desperate than he is. Currently, only two other men in the entire world fit that description, Assad and Kim Jong-un.

I doubt Trump's bluffing because he's desperate. Meaning, if he has to destroy the world to save himself from further humiliation in the press, he's fully capable of doing so. Especially since the GOP was kind enough to give him that authority, all in the name of conservative values you understand.

If it is nessecary to destroy the world to halt the disastrous immigration policies of the past, so be it.

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
[REFRAIN]:
that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
[REFRAIN]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[REFRAIN]
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
[REFRAIN]
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[REFRAIN]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
[REFRAIN]
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

North Korea differs from the USA only by degree. Approximately 20% of American children are inadequately fed and we have a nuclear arsenal thousands of times greater than theirs. Yes, you may respond, but North Korea is led by an unstable egomaniac while the USA leader is brilliant billionaire whose success, unlike Mr. Kim's, was his own, not something inherited from his Daddy. God bless America

Unlike you, I have serious doubts that Kim Jong Un has his head screwed on straight when he assassinates his half brother, his uncle, and feeds potential opponents alive to hungry hogs....Perhaps that is normal behavior in northern New Hampshire................ :oyvey

I'll huff, and I'll puff, then I'll blow your missile up.

Guess what happens the next time North Korean launches a missile? Nothing that's what. Other than a frantic search by the U.S. Navy for any missile components that might be scattered about.

Seoul (AFP) - North Korea denounced the US deployment of a naval strike group to the region Tuesday, warning it is ready for "war" as Washington tightens the screws on the nuclear-armed state.

It seems it takes having a nuclear weapon to be considered reasonable and worth negotiations instead of an attack without reason, and to see propaganda where it is...

New fason is to make illegal immigrants shine in the night from radiation? :)
Nobody is considering that wars create millions of refugees. If NKorean regime is removed - most of its population will quietly move to other countries...

In a worst case scenario, it appears most North Koreans would instinctly seek to migrate into China. This is also Beijing's greatest fear because North Koreans have been conditioned over the decades to believe the South Koreans would simply kill or imprison them, with China seen as the great protector by a vast number of North Koreans, simply because they don't know any better.

That could be something to do with the 150,000 Chinese troops that were put in place along the border
