Brexit may have triggered a political earthquake in Europe, but 70 years ago the UK sent real shockwaves across the seas with the largest non-nuclear explosion of that era.

Oh my, that area of Germany brings back a lot of memories!

There are so many lovely islands in that area that are still popular tourist destinations today, especially toward Schleswig Holstein. So, what, you silly British bombed the hell out of Heligoland after the war? The Germans had to start over? And rebuild it they did! Fun places to visit. Fresh air, clean living. It kinda reminds me of Prince Charles and his "Carbuncle Cup" prize. In the early sixties Prince Charles was so horrified at the new, modern architecture going-up in London that he suggested that the Germans/Luftwaffe may want to reconsider bombing the place again as the "before" and "after" affects wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Die Nord See! Ah! The ocean air, the sea gulls, the fresh shrimp. James Last. "Biscaya" A dedication to the North Sea and the Germans who live there in paradise. "Sir, may I order a small Remy Martin please?".... :)
