States scramble to prevent ObamaCare exodus; http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/336179-states-scramble-to-prevent-obamacare-exodus "Insurance commissioners are pulling out all the stops to keep insurers from leaving their states amid uncertainty over ObamaCare's future. They are offering insurers new, previously unheard of flexibilities to try to keep them in the market. But the effort faces an uphill climb, given the Trump administration's wobbling over whether it will continue federal payments that compensate insurers for subsidizing out-of-pocket costs for lower income households. There's also the question of whether Congress will repeal ObamaCare this year. Insurers are skittish and pleading for certainty from Washington. They want assurances that they will continue to receive cost-sharing reduction payments from the federal government, which total about $7 billion this year." |

What you want and what you get are two different things....For pet hamsters who want totally free medical care, I can say, "How does it feel to want?".............

Too many cooks threaten GOP healthcare bill; http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/336448-too-many-cooks-threaten-gop-healthcare-bill "Senate Republicans may have too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to healthcare, and it’s complicating efforts to draft an ObamaCare replacement bill. The main Senate group working on crafting healthcare legislation is the task force of 13 men backed by Senate leaders. It won negative attention early on for its lack of women, at which point GOP leaders opened it up to all members." |

McConnell’s health gambit ripples in Kentucky; http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/341579-mcconnells-health-gambit-ripples-in-kentucky "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is in a dicey spot in more ways than one when it comes to the Senate’s healthcare bill. If the Kentucky Republican fails in his effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare, his reputation as a master tactician of the Senate will take a hit, with lawmakers second-guessing his decisions on drawing up a bill largely behind closed doors. It would also deal a serious blow to the GOP effort to end ObamaCare and would mean Republicans have wasted the first seven months of the new Trump administration with little to show for it. Questions about the rest of their agenda would grow. Back in Kentucky, McConnell would also face some politically tricky questions." |

It's the baseline for moving forward, the country isn't interested in going back to a "free market" approach, which is what the rest of the world left behind decades ago: What's actually wrong with the U.S. health system, by @olgakhazan https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2017/07/us-worst-health-care-commonwealth-2017-report/533634/?utm_source=nl-atlantic-daily-071417 "A new report shows why American health care performs so poorly compared to its rivals—and suggests the Obamacare replacement proposals aren’t the way to fix it." What the Cruz' amendment would do to health insurance, from @fivefifths https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/07/how-the-cruz-amendment-would-destroy-health-markets/533691/?utm_source=nl-atlantic-daily-071417 "The Better Care Reconciliation Act already increases the risk of death spirals. Under new proposed additions, that risk becomes a near-certainty." |

Obamacare is unfixable. It was approved by a literal community organizer, with designers of the bill literally saying it passed because the american public is stupid. |

In America, anything is fixable, except those opinions of the willingly ignorant! Obviously you've been watching too much FAKE NEWS: Five takeaways from the GOP's healthcare reboot; http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/341964-five-takeaways-from-the-gops-healthcare-reboot Much of ObamaCare would remain. The bill probably can’t escape the “ObamaCare lite” moniker. It keeps the structure of ObamaCare’s tax credits to help low-income Americans afford insurance in place, though they would be less generous. A tax on high earners would remain. In short, it’s not a straight repeal of the law. This means getting Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) vote is likely out of the question. Previously, he’s suggested changes that haven’t made it into the bill, such as eliminating a stability fund, repealing more ObamaCare taxes and dropping the continuous coverage provision. “The thing is that I thought we were pretty clear,” Paul said after the closed-door GOP meeting. “We promised to repeal ObamaCare; this frankly doesn’t repeal ObamaCare. It keeps the subsidies, it keeps the taxes, it keeps the regulations. I think we’re going back on a promise.” |

Trumpcare will be similar to Obamacare, with modest modifications forcing participants to pay some out of their own pockets.....What will be stopped is the grand plan to transition to single payer, costing $trillions......

Don't bet on that: Why Single-Payer Health Care Saves Money https://nyti.ms/2tTSRIf "Total costs are lower under single-payer systems for several reasons. One is that administrative costs average only about 2 percent of total expenses under a single-payer program like Medicare, less than one-sixth the corresponding percentage for many private insurers. Single-payer systems also spend virtually nothing on competitive advertising, which can account for more than 15 percent of total expenses for private insurers. The most important source of cost savings under single-payer is that large government entities are able to negotiate much more favorable terms with service providers. In 2012, for example, the average cost of coronary bypass surgery was more than $73,000 in the United States but less than $23,000 in France. Despite this evidence, respected commentators continue to cite costs as a reason to doubt that single-payer can succeed in the United States. A recent Washington Post editorial, for example, ominously predicted that budget realities would dampen enthusiasm for single-payer, noting that the per capita expenditures under existing single-payer programs in the United States were much higher than those in other countries. But this comparison is misleading. In most other countries, single-payer covers the whole population, most of which has only minimal health needs. In contrast, single-payer components of the United States system disproportionately cover population subgroups with the heaviest medical needs: older people (Medicare), the poor and disabled (Medicaid) and returned service personnel (Department of Veterans Affairs)." |

Just another reason why this thing may not pass: New GOP health bill puts centrists in vise; http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/342121-new-gop-health-bill-puts-centrists-in-vise … "The revised GOP ObamaCare replacement bill is testing the promises that centrist Republicans have made during the legislative debate. Several moderate Republican senators previously raised alarm with an amendment from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) that they worried would undermine protections for people with pre-existing conditions. They also expressed opposition to the deep Medicaid cuts in the bill. Now, the Cruz amendment has been included in the bill and the Medicaid cuts remain, putting centrists on the spot." |

People could care less what you call it!!! What people want is health insurance at a fair price that actually covers somethin!!! The bulk of workin class folks startin a family are workin paycheck to paycheck at this point in their lives and have on average (2) young kids that get ear and throat infections regularly, with colds, flu's an fevers, that the parents cain't seem to break at home, so they're off to the emergency room with one kid with 104 degree fever and another in tow, ,in the middle of the night. They need to be able to reasonably cover these costs while also continuin payin the electrical bill, the mortgage, the car payment an still put food on the table!!! That's what health insurance is for, to help manage the high cost of healthcare in general!!! The only people that moozlum care may have helped, is those gettin a subsidy at the detriment of the entire middle class workin populace and even that's questionable in hindsight!!! |
