It explains a lot.... South America is such a screwed-up place precisely because of the widespread belief in communism/socialism. They keep banging their heads against the wall with this evil ideology, and the people grow poorer and poorer. Look at Cuba. Look at Venezuela. Democracy in South America has turned into a grab-all, political parties achieve success then use the government revenues to reward their followers. We won, you lost, the rest of you can go suck eggs. Now, it turns out, the Pope is an actual communist/socialist sympathizer. Amazing. Mozart |

How many people were killed/slaughtered under the flag of communism during the 20th century? 100 million? 125 million? Nobody knows for sure. Was the Pope never taught this? Does he understand that communism and fascism are one in the same, with the commies having a record of being even more bloodthirsty? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_killings_under_Communist_regimes Here's a guy, just yesterday, running in front of a Cuban May Day Celebration (and what, exactly, are they celebrating?), then gettin the sh%t kicked out of him and winding-up in a Cuban jail cell. I am sure the Pope called Castro to voice his objection on the matter, sullying the name and hopes of communist's throughout the world. Right. We're anti-fascists, dontchaknow. The voices from the Gulag Archipelago still resonate throughout the world. The Great Leap Forward and Pol Pot. Death, violence and real genocide is the history of communism. The Pope should read a little bit about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7T4EjqfKAs Mozart Edited by W A Mozart, May 2 2017, 11:41 AM.

The Church's liberation theologists set Latin America on a course of economic disaster in the name of Jesus.....They are responsible for the poverty they aimed to cure....Stooges like Che may have little to eat, but they have their pride and a promised reservation in heaven according to Frances......... :oyvey |

The idea that the pope grew up under socialism in Argentina is bit of Trump-style history. His close friend was "disappeared" by the fascist junta. Socialism? |

How many were killed in the 18th century under the banner of Christianity? That argument gets tiring after a bit. |

So, like, you're comparing 18th century Christianity with 20th century communism? Really? Mozart |

Conservative, right-wing Americans don't like the Pope? I have the solution: MAKE DONALD TRUMP POPE OF HIS OWN CHURCH! ![]() THE JIHADIST CHURCH OF HOLY CONSERVATISM! After all, for many of his hardcore supporters, Trump is already their God-Emperor.

God Emperor? Trump? Trump is a narcissistic, orange-haired businessman, who ran for President as a populist, and somehow managed to shock all the liberals by winning the whole damn thing. That's it. It's quite funny. A knee-slapper to be sure. True conservatives don't care about this guy's lack of etiquette/intellect. He's just a politician who beat a pompous, power-hungry old gas bag, and a vile liberal/socialist, to save the Republic. Way to go! True conservatives don't really care about his pedigree, nor will we build him a Pantheon for future worshipper's. To the delight of most of us, he'll slap around the arrogant media, pass some important conservative legislation, and then move-on. We won, you lost, go suck eggs! Now, the leftists in South America have created their own pantheon of "God-Emperor's." Hugo Chavez, Cristina, Fidel, Che, Morales and the list goes on and on. YOU people are the creators of "Emperor-God's!" You created Hugo Chavez for instance. I remember watching his insane funeral. It reminded me of Ayatollah Khomenei's funeral back in the 80's. Mobs and mobs of swooning followers. They dropped his casket, and at one point his decaying body fell out into the crowd. Complete insanity. I understand that at Chavez's funeral they had the corpse strapped-in! ( )Mozart |

Pope Francis, of course, is not communist. Argentina, of course, is/was not socialist. And the Catholic Church, of course, has something called Social Doctrine.

Fundamental realities ^^^ that alt-right types don't want to know. Señor Bergoglio is a man whose character and the world from which he comes are as incomprehensible to Fox News fascists as Sunday is to Holstein cow. |

The Pope's real mentor was a radical Jewish rabbi who had the crazy idea that religious dogma and ritual shouldn't trump human kindness and loving compassion for everyone, even those who all themselves your enemy. Seems kind of crazy to me, but that's what the guy preached. And it seems that his view was pretty popular until it transformed into the even greater craziness of today's right wing Christianity where religious dogma and ritual should trump all. The Pope's kind of throw back to the original 12. |

I was so happy to read that "your Gods are loved!" Who would have thought? Your Gods have been heaping abuse on your people for all of these years, yet you still come to the same church every Sunday. It's a heart-warming story of devotion. First, they put all of your disciples in positions of power all over South America for, what, 17 years? Your Gods then gave them ABSOLUTE power! All over. From Caracas to Tierra del Fuego. Power! Your Gods then went out of their way to give all of their new disciples fist-fulls and pocket-fulls of real money. Incredible money. Oil money. Texas-T. Brasil was swimming in new oil money. And Venezuela? Oh my God! The price of oil hit nearly 103 dollars a barrel. Money! Given to YOUR people by YOUR Gods...! But somewhere along the line YOUR Gods became angry with you. Fire and brimstone type of stuff. Anger. Disappointment. "Those whom the Gods wish to destroy, they first make mad." And boy were YOUR Gods mad! They gave you Hugo Chavez, Cristina and Nelson Kirchner, Morales, Rafael Correa and on and on. Remember those great made-for-TV get summits? The camera's? The hundreds of new trade deals? Smiling faces? Chavez hugging Correa. Incredible money dripping from their pockets. You would have thought that after 17 years in political power all of the social and economic problems would be, ....solved! Your Gods would guide them, direct them to eternal economic prosperity. Right? Wasn't that the idea here? Have you seen the photo's coming out of Venezuela lately? Have you witnessed the poverty, the complete despair of the people? The hopelessness, the faces of the children living with hunger and complete poverty. I am so glad that YOUR Gods still love you, but, ach du meine Liebe, are they ever mad at you....! Mozart |

Discussion about pope Francis reveals clearly that Evangelical Protestants have nothing but prejudice towards the Roman Church and the alt-right troll have even less knowledge about it. The life of the pope, the history of his country, the doctrines of his church, all are utterly unknown or misunderstood by knee-jerk righties. Nothing new there. The real divide among posters isn't on any of these vast topics, it is a simple matter of believing in Christianity. There are Bible-believing Christians who hate Francis because they think he is a Communist (!) and atheists who admire his altruistic humanism. It's an upside-down situation and a sad commentary on the politicized Christianity of the Republican Party. |
