"Vatican police 'break up gay orgy at home of secretary of one of Pope Francis's key advisers'..."

Oh boy, now we've got a problem....

Quote:

Vatican police have broken up a gay orgy at the home of the secretary to one of Pope Francis's key advisers, it has been reported.
The flat belonged to the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, which is in charge of tackling clerical sexual abuse.
Reports in Italy claim the occupant of the apartment is allegedly the secretary to Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio - a key aide to the 80-year-old Pope.

Coccopalmerio heads the Pontifical Council for Legislative texts and was said to have once recommended his secretary for a promotion to bishop.
The explosive claims were made in the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano

It is not the Miami Herald noting it above, it is a columnist that appeared in the Herald along with 60 other papers. It is an opinion piece.

While Andres has an impressive resume, he is a journalist writing an opinion column. Useful? Yes, but still a personal opinion and not the voice of the paper.

The problem today is that journalism is no longer a search for the truth, but merely another opinion piece, or advocacy journalism.

Mozart
It is true that opinion journalism has gotten more prominent which is why it is important for people to understand the difference. But there is still true journalism, reporters researching a story and publishing the results. These stories undergo editorial review and required multiple sources and documentation. Much of what Trump calls "fake news" is this type of journalism, it is just that we routinely apply that label to reports that we do not like the results.

Venezuela must heed Pope Francis's call for peace to avoid civil war
Quote:

This month, Pope Francis called once again for dialogue in Venezuela to resolve the escalating conflict there. His plea went unnoticed in the major international media, but he is right about the urgent need for a “peaceful and democratic” solution.

In the 1980s, civil wars took hundreds of thousands of lives ― mostly civilians ― in Central America, including in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala. This is becoming a real possibility in Venezuela if a negotiated solution is not reached.

Oh this Pope is so silly....

These are not two EQUAL sides in a dispute. It would be as if this Pope, a very ill-educated man of prominence, and who apparently has a thing for gay orgies.... , would demand that the Nazi's and the Jews work-out a "peace agreement."

This Pope is way in over his head.

Abby Martin? Telesur? Che, have you lost it? And, and, who in the hell is "Real News TV?" Real? ...according to whom?

Lemme explain to you why Venezuela is in turmoil. OK? Unlike Abby Martin, here are some "real" perspectives....

1) The Venezuelan economy is in an absolute "free fall" after 18 years of Chavista rule.
2) Nicolas Maduro, a certified idiot, has a popularity of less than 18% of the population, most of whom are gainfully employed by the Chavista government.
3) The Maduro government, rather than face "real" elections which would "easily" remove them from power, have decided to re-write the Venezuelan constitution, giving them unlimited power with no checks and balances.
4) That sounds like a dictatorship to me, how about you?
5) If you were young and cared about your country, you'd be in the streets too.
6) I wonder why Abby Martin and her "real news" failed to mention any of the above in her report?

Pope Francis allies accuse Trump White House of 'apocalyptic geopolitics'

In God We Trust. This phrase is printed on the banknotes of the United States of America and is the current national motto. It appeared for the first time on a coin in 1864 but did not become official until Congress passed a motion in 1956. A motto is important for a nation whose foundation was rooted in religious motivations. For many it is a simple declaration of faith. For others, it is the synthesis of a problematic fusion between religion and state, faith and politics, religious values and economy.

Wow.

Thanks for posting that...!

I did indeed read the entire article and was simply, ...amazed. This is the point of the entire thread, Pope Francis being a very strange political animal. An Argentinian leftist with bizarre ideas on economics and geopolitics. In relations to his two predecessors Pope Francis has lurched the Catholic Church to the "far" left. He is on "barely speaking terms" with the German Pope (Benedict), who is still alive, and living outside of Rome. He would indeed have "shocked" Pope John Paul II.

That article which you posted is a perfect summation of the new insanity that has gripped the Catholic Church, besides the now recurrent orgies... . It's crappola. Intellectual nonsense of the highest order. Frightening. Close aides of Pope FRancis? Wow.

There is too much too digest here, but I've chosen a couple of sentences to highlight. These:

Quote:

On the Conservative/Republican threat to the modern world: ... "The panorama of threats to their understanding of the American way of life have included modernist spirits, the black civil rights movement, the hippy movement, communism, feminist movements and so on. And now in our day there are the migrants and the Muslims. "

By their definition Republicans/Conservatives feel "threatened" by:

1) 'modernist spirits' Right. Sure. Back to the stone age! We are against "modernism?" Crap of the first water.
2) 'the black civil rights movement' A Pelosi talking point. Crappola. Taken from the George Soros playbook. Racist!
3) 'the hippy movement' Huh? What? The Catholic Church is now defending the hippy movement? Come again?
4) 'communism' And, uh, why not fascism? We're against communism, so we must 'therefore' be pro fascism..? Hmm? Here's the point. By including the term 'communism' with the other 'flags of liberalism' constantly espoused by the 'far' left, the two 'friends of Pope Francis' are making the point that communism is a 'good thing,' a noble effort. This is complete insanity. Crappola of the highest order. Do you remember my using the term "ill educated" to describe Pope Francis? Communism was responsible for over 100 million deaths during the 20th century, in equal comparison to fascism, perhaps even more so, yet these two Catholic "clowns" (I'm bittter here) make this utterly ridiculous point. To that I say, go to hell, you bastards! I hope you two idiots suffer as much as those 100 million did...
5) 'feminist movement' So, like, the Catholic Church is supporting the mass migration of millions of Muslims who want to bring women back to Sharia Law? What idiots!

That story is now making the rounds in the US media, to the shock of many Vatican observers. An amazing story.

This will have enormous repercussions for the Vatican and the Papacy over time. This Pope is way in over his head. Once you start making 'political' statements through friends and colleagues, not to mention being connected to a scandalous orgy through those same friends/colleagues, the Papacy is sure to suffer the consequences. Perhaps this is a return to the era of the Borgias? Wow.
