Back in reality, Greenland lost a 3,000 km + chunk of what had long been land-fast ice today.

The northern sea route is within two weeks of being open. Russia is counting on it being reliable for shipping in the years ahead. They are likely to win that bet.

" Study Finds Temperature Adjustments Account For ‘Nearly All Of The Warming’ In Climate Data"

Quote:

A new study found adjustments made to global surface temperature readings by scientists in recent years “are totally inconsistent with published and credible U.S. and other temperature data.”

“Thus, it is impossible to conclude from the three published GAST data sets that recent years have been the warmest ever – despite current claims of record setting warming,” according to a study published June 27 by two scientists and a veteran statistician.

The peer-reviewed study tried to validate current surface temperature datasets managed by NASA, NOAA and the UK’s Met Office, all of which make adjustments to raw thermometer readings. Skeptics of man-made global warming have criticized the adjustments.

Climate scientists often apply adjustments to surface temperature thermometers to account for “biases” in the data. The new study doesn’t question the adjustments themselves but notes nearly all of them increase the warming trend.

Basically, “cyclical pattern in the earlier reported data has very nearly been ‘adjusted’ out” of temperature readings taken from weather stations, buoys, ships and other sources.

The climate is changing , just that humans can't control it!

Can you tell us what happens when you run out of FREON? :) Sam

Freon (/ˈfriː.ɒn/ FREE-on) is a registered trademark of The Chemours Company, which uses it for a number of halocarbon products. They are stable, nonflammable, moderately toxic gases or liquids which have typically been used as refrigerants and as aerosol propellants. These include the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that cause ozone depletion (such as chlorodifluoromethane), but also include newer refrigerants which typically include fluorine instead of chlorine and do not deplete the ozone layer. Not all refrigerants of this type are labelled as "Freon" since Freon is a brand name for the refrigerants R-12, R-13B1, R-22, R-502, and R-503 manufactured by The Chemours Company.

"Amazonian Cold Snap Grips South America…Veteran Meteorologist Calls It “Spectacular”...."

http://www.climatedepot.com/2017/07/19/amazonian-cold-snap-grips-south-americaveteran-meteorologist-calls-it-spectacular/

Quote:

Yesterday at Twitter here meteorologist Joe Bastardi, a well-known climate science antagonist, directed our attention to the NCEP temperature situation for South America. Yikes! The massive scale of the cold is of Amazonian proportions, with temperatures well below normal across the entire continent. Bastardi even called the cold “spectacular”. Recently snow was reported to have fallen in Santiago, Chile. According to the Washington Post here, “heavy, wet snow weighed down tree branches, which snapped power lines. Up to 350,000 homes lost power“. In some places 40 cm of snow blanketed the ground. The AP also reported Chile’s Meteorological Office said it was the biggest snowfall in the capital in 46 years.” For Santiago, it was the first snowfall the city had seen since 2011. What follows is the 7-day forecast anomaly for the Latin American continent. Cold is forecast to remain:

It's a record cold.....brrr,....in South America!

Because Che spends most of his free time on the streets protesting, ...er, whatever the latest cause, he is probably freezing his katushka-off. It's cold on the streets of Buenos Aires. We are starting a "Go Fund Me" program on the internet to get him some warmer clothes to wear! Details as to where to send funds via credit card will be provided later....

Climate Mafia At Work On Sea Level
Posted on July 22, 2017 by tonyheller

One week after they forced Carl Mears into compliance over satellite temperatures, the climate mafia has forced the University of Colorado into compliance over satellite sea level measurements.

The numbers didn’t add up. Even as Earth grew warmer and glaciers and ice sheets thawed, decades of satellite data seemed to show that the rate of sea-level rise was holding steady—or even declining.

Nerem’s team calculated that the rate of sea-level rise increased from around 1.8 millimetres per year in 1993 to roughly 3.9 millimetres per year today as a result of global warming.

"SURFACE mass" it's a perfectly legit graph, but doesn't mean what you think it does.
Greenland got more snow than usual this year, which that reflects, however that graphic doesn't include ice that was lost through glaciers calving and bottom melt.

From you're own link:

"Satellite observations over the last decade show that the ice sheet is not in balance. The calving loss is greater than the gain from surface mass balance, and Greenland is losing mass at about 200 Gt/yr."
Not the point!

It's peanuts, ...peanuts.... :)

We gotcha here, fell right into the trap.....

375 billion tonnes per year… Oh my!

400 massive icebergs measuring 1km on each side disappearing each year… Oh no!!!

Wait a second… Those sound like big numbers… But how big are they compared to the Greenland ice sheet?

The USGS says that the volume of the Greenland ice sheet was 2,600,000 km3 at the beginning of the 21st century.

According to the “ice sheet goeth” graph, since 2001, Greenland lost about 3,600 gigatonnes of ice or about 3,840 km3 … That equates to a 16 km x 16 km x 16 km cube of ice (3√ 3,840 = 15.66). That’s YUGE! Right? Not really.

It’s not even a tiny nick when spread out over roughly 1.7 million square kilometers of ice surface. That works out a sheet of ice less about 2 meters thick… Not even a rounding error compared to the average thickness of the Greenland ice sheet.

2,600,000 km3 / 1,700,000 km2 = 1.53 km
The average thickness of the Greenland ice sheet is approximately 1.5 km (1,500 meters). 2 meters is about 0.15% of 1,500 meters.

http://www.arctic.noaa.gov/report-card/report-card-2016/artmid/5022/articleid/277/greenland-ice-sheet

"Using The Economist ratio of 400 km3 to 375 gigatonnes, 2,600,000 km3 works out to 2,437,500 gigatonnes. When some actual perspective is applied, it is obvious that “the ice sheet goeth” nowhere:" .....
Posted Image :)

Finally there is this lovely quote:

"Despite all of the warming since the end of Neoglaciation, the Greenland ice sheet still retains more than 99% of its 1900 AD ice mass."
:)

So now denier-land has gone from "it isn't happening" to "okay, it's happening, but not too bad", still using obviously biased sources.

Saying "only" 1% of Greenland has melted is like saying "only" one corner of your house is on fire. Nothing to worry about, right?

Global warming is an on going phenomena. Not that's it's to bad, the fact is there's nothing humans can do to reverse it.

You just don't take the time to understand... The fact is Earth will have no protection , in the years to come for it to cool.... Then the snowball planet will be no more and WILL BE HEADING TO "The Mars factor".

But continue you're an interesting species , wasting more time fighting among yourselves!!!! Sammy

The highlight of CNN’s primetime lineup Tuesday was The Climate Crisis town hall where they teamed up with former Vice President and climate alarmist Al Gore to push his propaganda. “Consensus in the scientific community is clear. Sea levels are rising. The oceans are warming,” moderator Anderson Cooper declared as he started the program. The event became even more ridiculous when Gore equated getting people to believe him was like the Civil Rights movement, in that “it's just really a question of right and wrong.”

Gore’s shameful self-aggrandizing came after Cooper teed him up to push for more U.S. resources to be diverted to solar energy. “You know, you talk about solar, why does the U.S. only get about 1 percent of its electricity right now from solar,” he asked. Progress was slow, according to gore, but a tipping point was to happen very soon.

The former Vice President then smeared those skeptical of his radical and wrong predictions by equating them to racists that opposed the Civil Rights movement. “When I was a boy growing up a lot of the time in the south, I remember when the Civil Rights movement was gaining momentum,” he recalled. “I'll tell you the resistance to Civil Rights laws was just as fierce if not more so than the resistance to solving is the climate crisis.”

Meanwhile, back in the real world, ice continues to melt at record levels. The Pacific and Siberian sides are now blue water. The northern sea route is open.

Posted Image

The Atlantic side looks less bad in terms of extent, but the ice that's there is thin and broken up -- more slush than pack. Everything east of Greenland will be gone within weeks, given the relatively warm Atlantic water.

This kind of melt and warming has all sorts of effects on weather, well beyond the polar regions. Note the (unusual) cyclone currently over the recently thawed Kara:
