Could be anywhere from '76 to '81, can't tell without seeing the headlights and grille. All those years had the same quarters and greenhouse.

Some of the higher end manufactured housing might be superior to site built housing in the end due to their use of 2x6 studs and heavier floor joists.

This particular home (though it is hard to tell for certain) does not appear to have the tall skirting around the base that is associated with a "mobile home". So it could be that the home in question has its frame resting on a base of concrete blocks which are tied into a footer. If that is indeed what was done here (and that is the standard methods for modular housing or high end manufactured housing) then the final structure may be stronger and more secure than any site built home short of one that has a block frame or brick frame and those are rare today.

I once knew a guy who worked for Palm Harbor who used to be one of the high end manufactured home places (they do multi-story homes and can get into the hundreds of thousands) and he had a line he used when people ask about the difference between a site built home and one of theirs. He says "All homes are manufactured. It is just that some of them get manufactured in the rain. Ours don't". That was the clean version. The other version is that "All homes are manufactured. Some of them are manufactured in the rain by illegal aliens who don't own a level". And he was correct much of the time.

As to the value of the home, mobile homes (manufactured homes that still have an axle and wheels) depreciate in value so if this is one of those the remark about the value may have merit. On the other hand, if this is more of a modular home that is set on a foundation or slab then it will appreciate in the same manner as any other home.

I've never seen a mobile home that required less than 3 steps to ascend to the door, so unless this is a trailer with it's axles buried in the ground (never seen that either), it's very likely a manufactured home.

Today, manufactured and mobile homes are essentially the same thing with the difference being whether or not the axles are attached. Here in Florida if you have the axle on it then you pay taxes differently on it also.

Building code wise though, due to changes after Hurricane Andrew no mobile or manufactured home is built as cheaply as they used to be. They simply are not allowed to sell those in this state anymore as a home. I don't know if they are available elsewhere still.

For folks who may not be aware of it, this is what a modern manufactured home can look like.

Excuse me, how is an AR-15, the civilian equivalent of the M-16/M-4 series of battlerifles not an assault rifle? It's soldier semi-automatic, but the only difference is the M16/M4 has a 3rd bursts, and a kit is available to make the weapon fully automatic?
The US military doesn't use the AR-15.

and because........ I want one
:dunno:
