Rent in Buenos Aires City Has Increased Up To 46 Percent Since 2016
Quote:

In three areas of Villa Crespo, now one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Buenos Aires, rent has risen over 46 percent from the first trimesters of 2016 to 2017 according to the Statistics and Census Bureau of the City of Buenos Aires. The increase varies according to the neighborhood, but on the whole, the cost of rent is rising much faster than the rate of inflation. On average, renters allocate between 35 and 45 percent of their incomes to pay the monthly rent. When you include other expenses such as gas, electricity, and water, the total cost of rent easily consumes more than half their incomes.

Argentine peso breaks sharp slide after central bank intervenes
Quote:

BUENOS AIRES, July 31 (Reuters) - Argentina's peso currency rose against the dollar on Monday for the first time in two weeks, after the central bank intervened in the foreign exchange markets on Friday to halt the peso's rapid decline to historic lows.

So, lemme see if I got this right...

Cristina stole/confiscated the airline with NO monetary compensation, the case was taken to international court and Argentina LOST, and you're arguing that the poor of Argentina will SUFFER as a result of Cristina's reckless and insane economic policies? Macri didn't seize the airline, the botox-queen did!

Quote:

Argentina's former President Cristina Fernandez ordered the state seizure of the airline in 2008, alleging mismanagement. It has remained under state control since then.

Pro-business Macri has been trying to dismantle state controls on the economy implemented during Fernandez's government since taking office in 2015.

Argentina's Macri sees investment spike after mid-term vote
Quote:

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - President Mauricio Macri told Reuters on Tuesday that investments in Argentina would multiply after what he predicted will be a triumph for his Let's Change Coalition in October's mid-term elections.

While Macri said his allies would win "by a lot" nationwide, he admitted polls showed a tight race between his party's candidate and former leftist populist President Cristina Fernandez for a Senate seat in Buenos Aires province, the country's largest.

Risen From Ashes, Fernandez Set to Rattle Argentine Market
Quote:

(Bloomberg) -- Call it the Cristina premium.

If you want to measure how much investors fear a political comeback by ex-President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, pay close attention to the Argentine central bank’s Lebac auction on Tuesday.

That’s when the bank will have to roll over a record amount of short-term notes known as Lebacs, just two days after primaries in which Fernandez is tipped to come out on top of President Mauricio Macri’s candidate. A wider-than-expected lead could damp demand in Tuesday’s $30 billion auction and send the peso tumbling. The congressional election is in October.

Argentine biodiesel industry says U.S. duties will halt exports

(Reuters) - Argentine biodiesel exports will be priced out of the U.S. market, its leading industry body said, after Washington decided on Tuesday to impose steep duties on imports that it said were unfairly subsidized.

The countervailing duties on soy-based Argentina biodiesel could be as much as 64.17 percent, according to a statement from the U.S. Commerce Department. Duties of up to 68.28 percent will be imposed on palm oil biodiesel imports from Indonesia.

"Any duty of more than 15 percent leaves Argentine biodiesel out of the market," an Argentine biofuels industry source said.
