All which could equally be provided by a free marketplace.

But I know where you are going with this and respond ...

What about the liberty of the person that wants to keep their stuff?
Sadly, history has repeatedly shown that “the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties” cannot be equally provided by the free marketplace because the free marketplace is based on individual greed and systemic racism - not the “welfare of the people”.

In fact, the “welfare of the people” is the very last thing the free market provides.
On the contrary - history has shown that socialism is never sustainable long-term.

History on the other hand has shown that free market capitalism has created the greatest abundance of goods, services and technology the world has ever seen. Its time to see if it will work in healthcare - government has failed us.

Interesting how you switched your argument from “liberalism” to “socialism”.

-Very clever…

The problem with your argument, a centralized force providing general welfare for individuals/classes or more appropriately - collectivism is that it contradicts liberalism.

Socialism infringes on the liberty of an individual to keep their means of production. It literally take one's personal property and transfers it to someone else - that is authoritarian behavior.

Talking about the sustainability of socialism is outside the scope of this thread, we can start another thread if you like.

I see you are still unable to fashion an argument against “liberalism”.

Why didn’t you just title your Op post “Those that think they are socialists, define socialism”?

Why would I argue against liberalism?

The modern left pretends that they are liberal - they are not. If you want to find liberalism look to the libertarians - they are in fact the ones with civil liberties as their central tenet, for decades.

Define "Libertarian"
Drug user who doesn't like paying taxes.
Skipping leg day is the equivalent of a woman having an abortion. You're ashamed of it, and it was probably unnecessary.

^^^Gotta admit...that is funny...
Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence.
