Many European countries have a two-way connection with the Arab world, a result of colonialism and generations of immigration. Keeping the virus of radical Islam out of the country is probably not a viable option -- especially as all it takes is one guy radicalized on the Internet with a car or a kitchen knife at hand.

America is protected somewhat better by geography but really by the more successful integration of Muslims into the larger society through public education and jobs. The Republican program of stirring up racial hatred between Christian and Muslim Americans is a spectacularly dumb idea.

The US is not as adept at burying its head in the sand on Muslim relations like the EU is.....Diversity is NOT our strength and we suck at candlelight vigils............ :)
