Two Clay County students who were captured in a picture taking down a flag in the pouring rain are being honored.

Isaac Davis and Nate Helmuth said they were inside Coppergate Elementary and noticed it was raining and windy.

They didn’t think twice about braving the rain to take down the flag.

“We didn’t want the flag to just stay out there when it was pouring down rain,” Helmuth told Action News Jax.
People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would do them harm.

This is the county in Florida that I grew up in. They still have corporal punishment, they still do the pledge (and everyone stands), etc etc. Of course, it is a county where lots of folks involved in Naval Aviation live so some of that comes from there.

Still, this was cool to see and I am certain that this is not the first time some kids took the flag down in the rain, its just the first time someone took a photo of it. Good for the boys to be recognized though.

Like you said...nice to recognized but I get the feeling these young men weren't looking for accolades which is the true honor....

Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence.
