Washington’s hectic pace of naval deployments is putting the lives of its sailors at risk, lawmakers said Thursday. The US Navy’s summer of lethal and costly accidents demonstrates that the strategy to project power from the sea via forward deployments is "not sustainable and needs to be significantly modified," House Armed Services Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee Chairman Rob Wittman (R-Va.) said Thursday. https://sputniknews.com/us/201709091057233428-deadly-crashes-forward-deployment-unsustainable/ |

lol, it's really an advantage over a Russian carrier but to our justification we rely more on missiles, 2-3 of which can sink a carrier.though, a carrier strictly saying is nothing but an airfield. But a sinkable one It is good against primitive nations with no or almost no own airfields and anti-aircraft and anti-fleet defence. with such rivals as Russia it becomes an expensive one-time-use toy.

missiles also fly in swarms ![]() though, right now I have to admit we don't have a Soviet system of guidance for them, it was destroyed after collapse of USSR so our missiles can't effectuvely fly for 600 km as they are designed to. The guidance system we use now is more vulnerable and less effective, but as I read Russia is creating a new one, along with new HYPERSONIC MISSILE which has no equivalents in the West and leaves no chances for carriers..
