Wasn’t the whole point to make it affordable for the poor?

All I know is it is impossible to live with the costs going up like this. We are serfs being squeezed.
Affordable still isn't Free...you get that right?
Depends where you are. If you live in Maine as a family of 3 and make less than $35,735, yes, you get100% free health care.

As a Marine, with a family of 3, so did I, for the birth of my two sons, I paid $13.00 each for sheets in an Naval Hospital...your point? I didn't read the link, is that healthcare provided thru an ACA provider or something else?
I understood your point to be that the govt does not provide 'free' health care but 'affordable' health care. I didn't research every state but in Maine, family of 3 under $35,735 gets 100% free health care. I don't know any insurance providers that provide 100% health care, that's the govt underwriting that. So, if you meet those qualifications, you get 'free' health care.

My brother owns a business and offered a friend who was a little down on his luck a job. The friend refused, said it would mess with his ACA benefits and Sec 8 housing. This is what we've created, people choosing not to work as it will affect what they get for nothing. Not what America was supposed to be about.

The number the quoted was something along the lines of 150% below the poverty level, and this is not as I understand part of the ACA but Maine State Law correct?
The Feds will subsidize a substantial part of it and Maine will pick up the rest.

It's sometimes the devil you know...if his friend had taken the job, would his financial situation been worse as a result...would he then have to pay more from his finite new salary for healthcare, etc, etc...

Do you know the really, really stupid thing about this? It's going to add to the deficit and the national debt, which means down the road we will have to either screw the poor even harder or we will have to tax the crap out of the rich even more, because we have to pay all that borrowed money back, with interest.

If I were wealthy, I'd be trying to convince the Republicans to NOT give me a tax cut now, because doing so is just going to be more painful later.

This doesn't concern you? We are encouraging people not to work, be productive, add tax revenue to the system so the rest of us can support them. Is this really Tsalagi? You had some different thoughts back in the old C-P days.

We have enabled an entire strata of people who are well able to work, not to do so. As someone who has done manual labor for nearly 40 years, that pisses me off.

People previously were eligible for Medicaid if they were at or below the poverty level....Obama had that changed so pet hamsters got free Medicaid if they were only 35% above the poverty level...States are free to expand Medicaid coverage to more wealthy pet hamsters if they use State funds....The poor have been getting richer while the taxpayer is getting poorer.......

Yep.....

Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence.
