ORLANDO, Fla. — Ten intolerable days after Hurricane Maria trounced Puerto Rico, Sahria Garcia finally got a call from her brother on the island. The call lasted three minutes and the news shook her: Her family had lost everything — jobs, houses, possessions, cars — and had spent days foraging for food, ice and water. Ms. Garcia, who lives in a small Orlando apartment with her three children, did not hesitate: “Don’t even ask,” Ms. Garcia said she told her brother during their conversation. “This is your house.” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/17/us/puerto-ricans-orlando.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=second-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 |

Before the hurricane, half of Puerto Ricans already lived in the continental US...The last Puerto Rican to leave Puerto Rico doesn't even need to turn off the lights....Some communities have no reason to survive.........

These migrants are predominantly parents with school age children who have family ties of one sort or another in FL. They will fit well into the hospitality sector as many are bilingual and they will be active and informed Democrats from the git-go. The corresponding sector of the Puerto Rican economy have been devastated, many think permanently destroyed. The migration will further displace FL's indigenous Klan Kiddies, most of whom are expected to hitch-hike to AZ. |

That's what I said, more welfare. These people have absolutely no desire to work while living in PR. You expect them to make the effort to find work in the mainland? Some crystal ball ya got. |

PR's blackout is the longest in U.S. history, no running water, nonexistent sanitary conditions, little medicine and even less hope. Trump ignoring PR, but not his Twitter account - is America winning yet? Nope.

Puerto Rico is a territory ensnared by socialism. Never mind Trumps successful efforts in Texas and Florida, you feck. Remember when your socialist shield maiden mayor did all those propaganda video in front of food and supplies? That's on your shoulders mate. Edited by estonianman, Nov 18 2017, 07:38 PM.

Get your head out of the sand, Texas and Florida voted for Trump, PR didn't, that's how it works for the vindictive and politically insecure. PR has become a human rights nightmare for the party that can't shoot straight - and just one more example of a dysfunctional and corrupt GOP. |

(CNN)On the same day Puerto Rico's governor celebrated power generation on the island reaching 50% of capacity, the lights went out in the San Juan metro area. The source of Wednesday's outage was the same main north-south transmission line that failed last Thursday, leaving swaths of the capital without power for hours, officials said. But the latest interruption appeared to cover a larger area, including Bayamon, Guaynabo, San Juan, Carolina and other municipalities, said Justo González Torres, director of power generation for the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, known as PREPA. source |

Anyone dumb enough [like Trump] to pull military assistance out of PR especially the vaunted Army Corps of Engineers is on a political vendetta against the helpless. Shame on the GOP for turning its back on PR simply because it's American citizens voted for Hillary. Bring on the mid-terms! |

To the alt-right Puerto Ricans aren't "real" Americans no matter what it says on their passports. They are Catholic, they speak Spanish, blue eyes are rare. American for the Trumpies is a genetic condition not an ideological one. They are scared, really scared. |

To clarify because some here a dumb. American citizens living in PR vote by absentee ballot. PR citizens are only permitted to participate in presidential primary's and they're granted delegates. So, In other words, Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories help nominate the candidates. |
