From -letter to RT. ..."I know you are not a stooge for the Russian government and I know you know that. So do many millions of people who can understand the reasons for your work and the subjects that you cover. I have been on RT and have expressed my disapproval of Russian foreign policy, just as I have expressed it in other forums. However, my primary concern in my work, as I believe it is yours at RT America, is to highlight, change and rectify the policies of our American government which is so deadly and ruinous to so many tens of millions of people around the world. Such counter-narrative to the echo chamber of establishment group think and American Exceptionalism that pervades, dominates and dictates the content of American main stream media is why your work at RT America is so very vital. As a friend has said to me: this is not an issue of controlling Russian propaganda, but rather it is about American control of propaganda in general. Add in the falling ratings and poor financial postures of many main stream American media outlets and I’m frankly surprised that this backlash against and attempted censoring of you has not occurred sooner." As I grow older and more weak minded, I find my mind being controlled by watching Disney kids cartoon movies....I am a sucker for that propaganda and find myself enjoying and watching more and more of it...America should beware of Disney and its hidden subliminal messages..............

I'm not sure what Ozzy Osbourne(a Brit, mind you) has to do with this but my guess is that his manager said he could make a few million by doing those concerts and since Ozzy is in the latter stages of life and could use a few bob, he signed up. I sincerely doubt it was a political statement. |

Buckfan, in Russia we have a meme - to break the template. It's when you've lived the whole life thinking that the Earth is flat and suddenly you find out it is round.... and when you comprehend it you have a moment of braking a template... I'll try to bring you one.. You heard multiple times, are used to cosider it an axiom and don't bother yourself with thinking with own brain in this regard. But tell me, even if RT is financed by the state - why does your access to it have to be limited? Why any infornation provided by a foreign government must not be treated as any other information, provided to you by some tycoon, or an oligarkh, or whoever owns mass media? i.e. in the way criminal code stipulates - if you lie, you must be held responsible in the independent court via competitive procedure. if not - you are free to say whatever you wish and whoever you are. Does your American GULAG understand the concept of freedom of speech? do you understand that the US government has just expanded censorship on infirmation you may have an access to? America sucks, Jake, it really does. You are heading to become big Guatemala. first. and then - big Zimbabwe, as the Dollar bubble bursts... Edited by Siberian, Nov 21 2017, 05:18 PM.

Hey dude, I doubt you know this as you're a little slow, but in Russia, ANY NGO that receives foreign donations has to register as a foreign agent and can be closed at will by the govt, I think at last count about a third were shut down. You're not arguing from a position of strength here. Russia sucks. |

Yo roots, any chance you can move beyond alternet? Here's a wiki... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_foreign_agent_law watch Siberian as he tries to pretend none of this happened... The Russian "foreign agent" law, officially "On Amendments to Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation regarding the Regulation of the Activities of Non-profit Organisations Performing the Functions of a Foreign Agent", is a law in Russia that requires non-profit organizations that receive foreign donations and engage in "political activity" to register and declare themselves as foreign agents. Once registered, NGOs are subject to additional audits and are obliged to mark all their official statements with a disclosure that it is being given by a "foreign agent". The word "foreign agent" (Иностранный агент) in Russian has strong associations with cold war-era espionage, and the law has been criticized both in Russia and internationally as a violation of human rights and as being designed to counter opposition groups; supporters of the law have likened it to United States legislation on lobbyists employed by foreign governments. On 4 June 2014, an amendment to the "foreign agents law" came into force, authorizing the Ministry of Justice to register independent groups as "foreign agents" without their consent, if the ministry regards the organizations as engaged in "political activity" and if the organization is receiving foreign funding.[15] By 29 June 2015, according to a report by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, the list of "foreign agents" included at least 70 NGOs. Of those, only five organizations voluntarily agreed to designate themselves "foreign agents". At least 20 NGOs have ceased their activity either in full or in part, including through "self-liquidation". The majority of organizations were included in the first half of 2015. By 24 October 2016, according to a report by Human Rights Watch, the list of active "foreign agents" included 105 NGOs. Of those, four registered voluntarily and at least 58 were prosecuted for not doing so. Law enforcement officers in Russia have raided the offices of several targeted organizations to seize documents and records related to their operation. Several prominent international organizations have been targeted, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Transparency International. Overall, more than 55 organizations in 16 Russian regions have been audited.[2] These raids are often joined by journalists from NTV, which has aired programs which accuse human rights and opposition activists of pushing the interests of the United States. In June 2017, head of the human rights NGO "Union of Women of Don" Valentina Cherevatenko was formally charged with "malicious evasion" of legal requirements set out in the law, making it the first criminal proceedings initiated for non-compliance. Cherevatenko faces two years in prison. GOLOS Association, Russia's only independent election monitoring organization, was instructed by the Russian Justice Ministry to declare themselves a "foreign agent" for accepting an award from the Norwegian Helsinki Committee. After GOLOS refused to register, stating that it had not accepted the prize money, it was fined and suspended for six months. Russian police subsequently raided the offices and the homes of employees and confiscated equipment. Levada LOGO.jpg Levada Center, Russia's only independent polling agency, received between 3 and 1.5% of its total budget from abroad.[26] It was issued with a public warning that it would be eligible under the law. Levada said it suspended foreign funding in 2013.[27] In 2016, the polling agency was named a foreign agent, barring it from work on the upcoming election. Levada's director stated that the designation may mean that Levada would be unable to continue its work as a pollster. Memorial Logo.svg Memorial, one of Russia's oldest organizations dedicated to preventing a return to authoritarianism, also refused to register under the law. They were officially audited, and provided 8,776 pages of information documenting their activities. It was placed on the registry in 2015. Dynasty Foundation, Russia's prominent research and education nonprofit, shut down after being included in the registry. Russia's Committee Against Torture disputed their inclusion into the registry in court, but the appeal was rejected. Refusing to operate under the law's conditions, it announced its dissolution. After Glasnost Defence Foundation was designated a "foreign agent", the OSCE and the Russian President's Human Rights Council criticised the decision. Ingo-cat-logo.png Transparency International Russia.png Transparency International (TI-R) was declared eligible for the label in 2013. The reason given was TI-R receiving money from foreign sources, and being a part of the Expert Commission for Open Governance in Russia, which deals with political activities.[37] TI-R believes that their position on the Expert Commission for Open Governance in Russia should preclude them from being forced to register as a foreign agent, seeing as it is a status appointed by the Russian Government. They also claim that the phrase "political activity" is too broadly defined in the law, and that it needs to have narrow, specific definitions. Therefore, TI-R is currently waiting for their appeal to be reviewed and a judgment to be made. In April 2015, the Russian Ministry of Justice placed Transparency International on its list of 'foreign agents'. The American MacArthur Foundation, citing the foreign agent law along with its designation as an "undesirable organization", closed its Russian division, operating since 1992 |

Of course you hide from obvious things. You certainly weren't going to point out that Russia's foreign agent law has been used against domestic interests(polling agencies, election monitors, human rights groups... not to mention Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Transparency International). Many of these same groups have been shut down under pressure from the govt. That doesn't happen here. RT will not be shut down, they're just seen now for what they are, a propaganda wing of that which funds them, the Russian govt. Russia has never stopped being a totalitarian dictatorship, Russians seem to enjoy being treated like mushrooms(being kept in the dark and covered with sh!t, you being our foremost example here). |

Aside from all this, RT America , is more like a subdivision of RT , and they are not being controlled by the Russian government. If they want to put Ed Schultz and Jesse Ventura on the stand in Congress, people will pay to see that. C-Span will get it's highest ratings ever. Most Americans don't know what the FSB is and still think the KGB is in control of Russia. This would be a funny joke if it wasn't true. Edited by _g R_, Nov 23 2017, 12:03 AM.

I guess I have to ask... so what? RT will still operate in the US market, Ed and Jesse will still get a place to voice their views... unlike a large number of the NGOs which have been shut down in Russia(see above... maybe even try to rationalize) |

Harambe, using illegal aliens (which we're quite overrun by the way, tgere are more than 10 mln muslim Uzbeks, Tajiks etc. from Central Asia, which only a year or two ago started to be controled somehow, now all they have to buy a licensevto work in Russia, before they were not controlled at all). Thut I mean you agree with crazy and false Jake's lies saying "at least.." , you should not, you must undersrand that he both lies putting his words in my mouth that I am going to do this or that, and second - he lies and distirts facts themselves, I will describe where and how he lies as soon as I have 40-50 minutes for a thorough answer.. |
