If it gives us nothing else positive, the Republican tax plan—and, in its Senate form, the health-care repeal—at least provides clarity. There is no debate. The middle class will, in the long run, pay more in taxes than under current law, and the rich will pay less. https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-shocking-math-of-the-republican-tax-plan?mbid=social_facebook |

It is hard to see how this latest bit of legislative goulash is going to slide past Senate Republicans. The Kochs, the Mercers and the other GOP donors have laid it on line: no tax cut for billionaires means no money for the 2018 elections. Along with the low approval of the GOP, a cutoff of money would spell a Democratic wave and the almost certain impeachment of Trump before 2020. It is beginning to look like the end of the trail for the conservative movement begun by Ronald Reagan. Robert Stout will probably continue to post here but his shot at governor of Arizona will be gone forever. |

Trump's tax-cut for himself, his family, and his billionaire buddies is DOA in the Senate. Most GOP members of Congress will soon be heading home for Turkey, stuffing, and ridicule from its constituents - while they watch checkbooks rapidly closing. The GOP will now suffer mid-term loses not seen since the corrupt Ford administration, where the party that can't shoot straight lost nearly 50 House seats and 3-4 Senate seats. Trump Making America Great Again - even if he destroys the GOP in the process. |

and as the world inevitably turns, Adam Davidson has no supporting evidence for his anti-Trump rant. I also like how the democrats have been baited into crying about taxes getting raised. |

The complaint is that this is a typical GOP tax plan - cut taxes for the rich and raise them on the poor. How about a tax plan that really is innovative. Significantly cut taxes on the poor and middle class and raise taxes on the rich to pay for it. That will provide an immediate stimulus to the economy because the poor and middle class will immediately spend that extra money since they live paycheck to paycheck. That money will immediately be spent in the consumer economy which is the real engine that drives our economy. |

You have been thrashing about in agony ever since you first got the Trump experience a year ago...Did you sob on election night like a little SJW ???....Your prophesies about the imminent demise of making America great again is merely the product of wild mental masturbation....You should be preparing yourself for continued humiliation in 2018 and 2020...I have abandoned personal political ambitions in Arizona because disclosure of my prior sex life would cause a national debate lasting over a year..............

The rich already pay the majority of the taxes. What you are describing is what France did - causing every rich person to emigrate. |

Yes- you had to wait 29 years after Reagan left office to defeat him . . . What a joke. What’s next? FDR’s landslide in 1932 was a repudiation or Lincoln? |

close to half of Americans pay zero in federal taxes I do not disagree with your statement about finding a way to cut the tax burden on lower class Americans, but the ONLY way to do this is to reduce SS/payroll taxes (which are super regressive) the only other option is to waive sales taxes on necessities of life, primarily food staples; but that can only be done on state & local levels Trump deserves a chance to implement his plan to reduce corporate taxes & the wok on repatriating billions that are held overseas every tax cut I have seen in my lifetime has increased federal revenues; I am confident that Trump's plans will as well we have far too high of a corporate tax burden; we are already at a competitive disadvantage in business because of our wages - exacerbating that with over burdensome corporate taxes makes things worse |

Every tax cut you have seen in your lifetime have increased federal revenues, but not one has managed to increase federal revenues enough to compensate for the revenues lost by the tax cut. Not one. None. Zero. Zip. And the simple reason for that is that for every dollar the federal dollar doesn't take in via taxes, three or four dollars in increase economic activity have to be generated to compensate for that lost dollar. And typically you get more like 50 cents on the dollar in increased economic activity. Increasing the deficit and the debt is one of those things I thought conservatives were dead set against. I guess not if they can tell themselves a convenient fantasy story about how money will rain out of the sky and fill the federal coffers if we just cut taxes low enough. |

Which is pretty much irrelevant to whether or not they increased federal revenue, meaning they increased taxable economic activity, enough to compensate for the cut. Which they didn't. https://www.npr.org/sections/itsallpolitics/2015/10/30/452905475/fact-check-do-tax-cuts-grow-the-economy Edited by Opinionated, Nov 19 2017, 03:03 PM.

The tax reform is a red herring and it’s stupid to waiste time on it. He would have been better off just to increase the child tax credit and leave it there. |
