WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump will not campaign for Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore before the Dec. 12 special election, a White House official said Monday. The president had held the door open to campaigning for Moore last week, when he all but endorsed his candidacy while attacking his Democratic opponent, Doug Jones. Trump also made public statements in which he raised doubts about the accounts of women who have accused Moore of sexual misconduct decades ago, when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s. http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/politics/2017/11/27/president-trump-won-campaign-for-roy-moore-white-house-official-says/jDYQohSX10mxkYO3vwhY3N/story.html |

Trump has absolutely no idea how to handle this matter because it's a lose-lose situation for the GOP. It now appears Doug Jones will win this and right-wing Christian conservatives can crawl back under their rocks - and pray for forgiveness. After the New Year, Moore will become a bad memory for the GOP and another abject failure in judgment for Trump. |

What is the source ^^^ for the prediction of Moore's victory? Your credibility is non-existent. Evidence is required. Trump has wobbled back and forth on Moore. First, he campaigned for Moore's primary opponent. Then he defended Moore against charges of sexual abuse. Now he is abandoning his party's candidate, apparently because he has realized that appearing publicly in favor of Moore would put him in confrontation with the GOP senators whose vote on the vital tax program is already mighty wobbly. Trump has made this sort of blunder a number of times. He doesn't seem to think ahead when he picks a fight with someone like McConnell, then when the crisis hits, he seems to think he can just power through any resistance. Not surprisingly, his legislative record so far is a big, fat zero -- the worst of any new President with his party in control of both House and Senate. Trump is heading for political disaster irrespective of how his criminal problems and impeachment worries turn out. |

If the Dems win the Senate, McConnell will cease to be majority leader. Whether he remains as minority leader will depend on the Republican caucus. Much as Trump fans might like to see the rookie Moore from Alabama taking over McConnell's leadership of the party, I think that rather unlikely. |

Moore's defeat in Alabama will be just a few days after the GOP approved government shutdown begins. Merry Christmas from Roy Moore and the GOP - Making America Great Again. |
