OAN Newsroom

GOP senators made last minute changes to the tax reform bill in an effort to win over undecided lawmakers ahead of a key committee vote.

Republican Senators Ron Johnson and Steve Daines say they could vote against the tax bill.

They argue the legislation puts limited-liability companies and small businesses at a disadvantage compared to larger corporations.

Meanwhile, Senator Bob Corker expressed concern the tax reform could jeopardize budget revenues in the short-term.

It all depends on what leg he is wearing the brace on when they vote...

In actuality, it depends on Senator McCain's keen dislike for all things Trump. Senator Flake is likely a no vote also. With the moral of the story being - never disparage the service of a Vietnam vet.

What is surprising about this tax bill, even more than the failed healthcare bills, is the ineptitude of a Republican Party that really doesn't seem to know how to craft the most fundamental legislation. Tax legislation is perhaps the most important product of any legislature in any form of democracy. Every tax plan has winners and losers, that's just part of the reality:

Don't tax me,
Don't tax thee,
Tax that man behind the tree!

Politicians of both parties will lie and quibble about who wins and who loses if they have to in order to keep the voters with them; we are used to that. Being able to sell your tax plan to the voters is one of basics of our politics. Whatever is going on behind the closed doors of the Republican caucus, what is coming out for a vote is the most garbled, ugly and flawed mish-mash of a tax proposal in living memory. I don't say that because the plan helps the rich and hurts the poor, that is a given for any GOP tax plan; it is because this one is so politically and economically unpopular and inept.

You would certainly think that the Republicans would be more skilled at applying the lipstick to this pig, given that it's pretty much the same old pig they're always trotting out.
