Concealed Guns in 50 States Are One Step Closer to Being Legal

(Bloomberg) -- The National Rifle Association has called the concealed carry bill, which would make it easier for gun owners to keep their firearms hidden when crossing state lines, its “highest legislative priority in Congress.” Despite concerns raised by Democrats about states’ rights and domestic violence, the Republican-controlled Congress has pushed the proposal one step closer to becoming law.

That ^^^ beloved Amendment refers specifically to militia, which is a function of state government and for the past century has been represented by the state National Guard. Even though the recent loonies on SCOTUS have come up with the rather strained notion that the amendment allows private arms for home protection, there is no disputing that the original intent of the amendment is aimed at the right of state governments vis-a-vis the new federal authority. This basic context provides strong basis for the legal claim that the amendment cannot be used to allow gun-toting loons from out-of-state to come up here and wave around their shootin' irons. The Second Amendment is a states' rights guarantee, one of several in the Bill of Rights. It is sad to see the gun nuts trying to toss states' rights overboard.

Progs should have considered that a long time ago.

The militia is not "the people". The people is "the mob." The institution of the colonial militia was well established and had been in operation here in New England for for 150 years when the Constitution was ratified. What the militia consisted of and how it was controlled was long-established law. If you don't know the history of early America, grab a book a read it.

What a stupid thing to say! No Democratic candidate used the term "mob", I'm the one who did. And, unlike you, I know the precise meaning of "the mob" in 18th century politics. Mob appeared as a neologism from Latin mobus precisely in response to the changing political and criminal demography of Britain and America at that time. You are way in over your head and silly things like this ^^^ only destroy your credibility when it comes to matters where you insights are, or would be, valued.

Nothing there about the lax laws of one State being forced on another State with stricter laws.
